Oh my word. Cristiano Ronaldo should fire Portugal into the semi-finals of the European Championship. 

Substitute Joao Moutinho plays a brilliant lofted ball over the defence, it drops over Ronaldo's shoulder and bounces and the captain gets the timing wrong as he swings his boot. Barely makes contact with it. 

If that ball lands to him when he's in confident mood for Real Madrid, there's a 99% chance it flies in.

It heads towards goal and Lukasz Fabianski scrambles across his goal and is pretty relieved to see it go out for a corner.

Here comes the last-16 hero for Portugal. Winger Ricardo Quaresma, who scored the winner against Croatia, comes on for Joao Mario.

Portugal have a corner which Jose Fonte gets his head onto, but it's straight at keeper Lukasz Fabianski. That's their first shot on target in this pretty disappointing second half.

Bizarrely, me and a friend were discussing this only the other day! I was also trying to remember when they stopped having flags on the halfway line. Or even if that was a thing and we hadn't dreamt it...

Poland winger Kamil Grosicki has been lively tonight and he has a shot here but it looks like he's working for Nasa on the side and trying to kick a shuttle up into space. It's high and wide.

Portugal's Joao Mario then gets his shot wrong from the edge of the box and it loops up into the air and to the keeper.

Portugal make the first change of the night in Marseille - Joao Moutinho comes on for Adrien Silva in midfield.

Portugal midfielder Adrien Silva is booked for a dangerous tackle after the referee had left play go on first, coming back to book the player. Fifa 2016 style.
