  1. BBC pundits on Gareth Bale...published at 19:55 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

Rio Ferdinand: "He's so relaxed. He's enjoying the moment of being the star man. He doesn’t freeze on the big stage – he embraces it. He’s so strong. And when you stand off him, he can pass the ball."

Alan Shearer: "He’s doing it with ease. He’s also a good header of the ball."

Dean Saunders: "He’s the key in the formula Chris Coleman has. If you keep him quiet in general play, he can score a free-kick. He spends hours practising them."

The players are in the tunnel, Eden Hazard an oasis of calm in his role as unlikely Belgian captain. Ashley Williams a bit more frantic, pouring water over his head, bouncing from foot to foot. Here we go!

Andrew Neill: Two defences that look vulnerable to quick play, especially from wide. Hopefully we're in for a goal-fest tonight :o)

Kyran: Wales are a one man team - they're nothing with out Bale

Sue Humphries: Come on Wales! You're the last man standing. Let's all of the UK get behind them and wish them well, hoping for a win for you guys

"It gives us confidence to know that we have beaten them before" says Gareth Bale in his pre-match chat with Dan Walker. Wales are about 4/1 to win tonight with the bookies, with Belgium odds on in most places...

  6. 'No need to be nervous'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

Wales boss Chris Coleman: "There's no need to be nervous. We know the occasion and the level we have got ourselves to. We’ve waited a long time for games like this. We’re ready for the challenge.

"Tonight will be the end of the tournament for one of us - Wales or Belgium. But this group of players are in the middle of something. This will stand our boys in good stead in the future."

Eric Clapton backing a montage? Yes please. Lovely bit of Slowhand.

Nothing slow about Gareth Bale though. As I've mentioned already he is revelling in his role as the key man in this Wales side. So often you see players go missing or crumble under the intense scrutiny.

I guess a few seasons as the most expensive player in the world does that for you.

  8. 'Belgium don't like defending'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

    Dean Saunders

Belgium don’t necessarily like defending. They have four defenders injured and have a new back four who haven't played together. We have a plan and a system and that won't change.

A great opportunity for Wales, we start as underdogs and it's our toughest test yet. Tonight this group of players can make history.

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

When you look at Eden Hazard this season, does it matter to him he wasn’t reproducing his form of the previous year?

When you look at Messi or Ronaldo - the players he’s aspiring to be like - you see that steely determination.

That’s something he might need to improve but talent wise he’s up there with the best.

It's a return to Lille tonight for Eden Hazard - the club where he moved to at the age of 14, crossing the border in the process.

Can he shine back on familiar ground? He was superb against Hungary.

Fascinating watching the outfield players in the Wales starting XI taking part in a possession drill on their own in the middle of the pitch. Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, both wearing blue bibs, were always on the team of whoever had the ball. The other players in the two teams had to either keep it, or try to win it back.

The speed and precision of the passing, particularly on this wet pitch, was impressive although I did notice Bale gave the ball away slightly more than Ramsey did... Bale is 'winning' shooting practice at the moment, though.

  15. Or, in English...published at 19:38 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales in Lille

This is Wales’ most important match since the 1958 World Cup, as they aim to reach the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time in their history.

The atmosphere is hostile in Lille, which is only 10 miles away from the Belgian border.

Make no mistake: Belgium, ranked second in the world, are the favourites tonight.

But remember! Wales beat the same opponents last year. Could they repeat that feat tonight?

  16. Gêm bwysicaf Cymru ers 1958published at 19:37 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Cymru v Belg (20:00 BST)

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Cymru yn Stade Pierre Mauroy

Dyma gêm bwysicaf Cymru ers Cwpan y Byd 1958, wrth iddyn nhw anelu i gyrraedd rownd cyn-derfynol mewn cystadleuaeth rhyngwladol am y tro cyntaf yn eu hanes.

Mae’r awyrgylch yn danllyd yn Lille, sydd dim ond 10 milltir i ffwrdd o’r ffin â Gwlad Belg.

Does dim dwy waith amdani – Gwlad Belg, ail yn rhestr detholion y byd, yw’r ffefrynnau heno.

Ond cofiwch! Ennill oedd hanes Cymru yn erbyn yr un gwrthwynebwyr llynedd. Ydyn nhw am ail-adrodd y gamp heno?

  17. 'Backs to the wall job'published at 19:36 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

This could be a backs-to-the-wall job for Wales. The games in qualifying will be in the minds of both sets of players.

The pressure is on for Belgium and their golden generation. They have problems at the back.

They wouldn’t be happy the video came out like this. It doesn't look great. But I’m pleased they’re all in the same room together. England are our rivals.

    Alan Shearer

I don't see the video of Wales celebrating England's defeat as an issue at all, they have earned the right to be here, they've earned the right to celebrate. They are within their rights. England are not in the quarter-finals and Wales are.
