    Hazard v Allen: The rematch

Our squad is on a cloud right now and the players have every right to be positive about our form going into the quarter-finals - and about our chances of going much further in this tournament.

Like a few people have said, that is as much the case for the Wales squad as it is for Belgium. We have both ended up on the good side of the draw and I think all the teams left in there have got a chance and can dream of the final.

The Wales team will not need to watch a lot of videos before the game, because they know us so well - and we know them so well too.

Our games in qualifiers were very close and the last team to make a mistake was us, so you learn from your mistakes. In that sense I think and I hope it is advantage to us this time.

After a little delay the players and staff are off the Wales coach now, all the cameras following Gareth Bale and his top knot into the bowels of the stadium.

Perhaps understandably - but a bit unfairly - Bale seems to have his own personal, hard-as-nails security man. Everyone else, you're on your own!

The Belgium lads are on the pitch now, checking it out FA Cup final style. Toby Alderweireld is cracking some gags. It's a relaxed camp.

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

These two sides met in the qualifers - and Wales came out on top.

Wales dug out a 0-0 in Brussels in 2014 and just over a year ago, Gareth Bale scored the only goal as Wales won in Cardiff to move a step closer to France.

Does that give Wales a psychological advantage tonight?

The weather in Lille is currently atrocious. Visibility from the Uefa chopper is down to a few hundred feet. The roof of the stadium is able to close but it's wide open and I presume it is too late now...

  5. Where next for Giggsy?published at 18:27 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

Wales legend (?) Ryan Giggs has ended his 29-year stay at Manchester United by agreeing a settlement with the Old Trafford club.

United are expected to release an official statement in the coming days.

Giggs, 42, had a year remaining on his contract as assistant manager but new boss Jose Mourinho intends to fill that role with long-time friend Rui Faria.

Unable to reach agreement over another role at the Premier League club, Giggs, who made a record 963 appearances for United, has decided to move on.

Cardiff-born Giggs has his Uefa Pro Licence, a mandatory qualification for managing in the Premier League, and has never made any secret of his desire to move into management.

Linked with Swansea, external last season, he felt he was ready to manage United, having served his apprenticeship under David Moyes and then Louis van Gaal.

It is still pouring down in Lille and there are a few familiar faces seeking shelter in the media tent at Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant, who is now in charge of Ghana, thinks Belgium will edge it but predicts a close game, telling me: "Belgium have the better players but Wales are better organised."

Ex-Rangers and Blackburn defender Lorenzo Amoruso, now a pundit on Italian TV, is also backing the Belgians but says that Gareth Bale could win it for Wales, explaining: "I think the score will be 2-1 to Belgium but Gareth can change that. If he plays well, they won't be able to stop him."

Having named the same team against Russia and Northern Ireland, there is speculation Chris Coleman could recall striker Hal Robson-Kanu in place of Sam Vokes for tonight's quarter-final against Belgium.

Robson-Kanu was Wales' first-choice forward for most of their qualifying campaign and scored the winner against Slovakia in their Euro 2016 opener.

The free agent impressed against Belgium last year, running centre-back Jason Denayer ragged and winning the free-kick which led to Gareth Bale's winning goal.

Concentrate. No, harder. Harder than that!

See, you can almost smell the Euro 2016 final from here. It's just next Sunday.

But will Wales be in it? If you'd have asked me five years ago, maybe even a year ago, I would have called for the authorities.

But has a team played better, on a more consistent basis, than Wales so far? Belgium may have a better side on paper but they are almost expected to reach the final now. Pressure is a funny thing.

Or will Portugal - the tournament's party poopers - beat whoever wins tonight?

I've rarely seen a 'big' player take the mantle of carrying a side on his shoulders so well. Gareth Bale is loving life, he scored in each of the three group games and then made the winner against Northern Ireland.

Gareth Bale v Eden Hazard, leeks v Brussel sprouts, SuperTed v Tintin… It’s Wales v Belgium and the stakes could hardly be greater.

Wales are aiming to reach their first semi-final of a major tournament in what is only their second appearance in the finals stage of an international competition, having reached the quarter-finals of the 1958 World Cup.

For Belgium, meanwhile, the pressure is on to meet the high expectations bestowed upon this squad packed to the rafters with Premier League stars.

Lille has been buzzing all day and, as kick-off draws closer, the sense of anticipation at Stade Pierre Mauroy is tangible.

When the singer in Catatonia is in danger of missing the game, somebody's got to do something!

Yep, many Wales fans - including the great Cerys Matthews - have been stuck in Folkestone trying to travel to France for the match.

Earlier on, Wales fan Rod Woodward told the BBC that his train, which was supposed to leave at 13:40 BST, was delayed by four hours.

Mr Woodward said there are chaotic scenes at the terminal with many fans in tears and some desperately trying to swap their tickets with people not going to the match.

    Chaos!

However Uefa were quick to point out that the game is going to go ahead as planned. No delays.

  15. Problems at the backpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    Wales v Belgium (20:00 BST)

Belgium lost Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen to injury this week. The 29-year-old has been playing as left-back at Euro 2016, but was expected to play centrally alongside Spurs team-mate Toby Alderweireld with Thomas Vermaelen serving a suspension.

Jordan Lukaku, brother of Everton striker Romelu, and Manchester City's Jason Denayer could now come into a makeshift backline already without captain Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Lombaerts and Dedryck Boyata through injury.

  16. 'An incredible victory?'published at 18:05 British Summer Time 1 July 2016

    John Hartson
    Ex-Wales striker

Chris Coleman has got pretty much every tactical and selection issue right at this tournament so far but we have to appreciate how good this Belgium team is and what an incredible victory this would be.

For it to happen, we need to have total focus at the back and we will rely on our best two players again - Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale, who have been involved in every Wales goal at this tournament - if we are going to score.

I am optimistic we can get through, but I would not say I was overly confident about it because watching Belgium the other night was frightening, even if it was only against Hungary.

One big factor in our favour is that we are unbeaten in our past three meetings, including a win - so we do know how to get a result against them.

Wales are 90 - potentially 120 - minutes away from a place in the semi-finals of Euro 2016. As the team coaches begin their short journey to the stadium on a grey, grisly, grim day, both sides know just what is at stake.

It should be an epic. Welcome along for the ride.

The world has changed - a lot - since 1958.

I know that in today's world you are told with alarming frequency that the next game is the biggest since  x, the most important since y, but tonight genuinely is the biggest game for Wales in nearly 60 years.

Then they lost a World Cup quarter-final to eventual winners Brazil.

Now they face the world's second-best team in Belgium.

Can they reach the last four?
