Any tenuous reasons for supporting one of the remaining teams?

Tim Bishop: I'm supporting Iceland because I lived there for 12 years, my wife is Icelandic, and because they're everything I wish the England team were.

That's not tenuous Tim! Strong Icelandic links.

Make what you will of this but as France complete their warm-ups, every member of the squad hugs each other player in a lengthy and well organised ritual.

Somebody with better maths than me will work out how many hugs that was.

    Is it 23x22x21x20x19... etc?

Perhaps the most famous result in Iceland's footballing history - before this week - was a 14-2 defeat by Denmark in 1967.

It was such a bad result that a Reykjavik brewery made a special beer - christened 2-14 - which had a formidable alcohol level designed to erase the memory of the humiliation.

A special brew, if you will.

Are any of England's breweries listening? Get in in the shops...

When Italy defeated Spain here last week the match kicked off after a heavy shower. It was noticeable that numerous players lost their footing early on and fell over, particularly when attempting to change direction.

The surface will be super greasy again this evening. Not seen anyone go over yet but then again, we're still at the warm-up stage.

Better get those studs sorted lads.

    France v Iceland (20:00 BST)

All appears well now but a controlled explosion was carried out at about 17:30 (15:30 BST) on a car near the Stade de France.

Initial reports suggested police wanted to gain entry to a car parked within the security perimeter of the stadium. No suspect objects were found inside the car.

Any tenuous reasons for supporting one of the remaining teams?

Kevin Byers, Bangor NI: My wife, Lynn and I were married in the Ice Chapel in Finland. It was -40 and we had Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros playing during the ceremony!

Andrew Neil: I am continuing my QF theme by having a French gin in one hand and an Icelandic one in the other. Cheers!

I was very, very close to having that played at mine Kev. Superb.

Over in Reykjavik the few souls who haven't travelled to France are gathering to watch on a specially-erected large screen.

This guy's idea will either be brilliant. Or really annoying.

In the past the French have had a few cliques and had a reputation for being a little bit mardy, but watching clips on TV they all seem to be laughing and joking together. Team spirit can be so important and it does look like it's working with the French team.

And on the pitch, all of a sudden the players you want to see perform for France - like Paul Pogba, like Antoine Griezmann - are starting to do that.

  10. A little underwhelming?published at 19:17 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    France v Iceland (20:00 BST)

    Julien Laurens
French football expert on BBC Radio 5 live

We French waited so long for this, with the year we've had in 2015, but it's been a bit underwhelming so far; it hasn't really felt like the Euros, because of the quality of opposition France have played.

It was similar at the World Cup in 1998, when it took a quarter-final against Italy for the public to really pick up in their enthusiasm. There is belief in the team though, and if they go through the passion will pick up a lot for the semi-final against Germany.

It would be a big failure for France to lose tonight.

It really is a poor day weather-wise in Paris. Some fans are getting a soaking as they make their way into the Stade de France.

We have kick-off in just 45 minutes though. That will lift spirits - as will the anthems.

We all know La Marseillaise - one of Europe's top three - but Iceland's is probably less well known.

Lofsöngur has some stirring, religious lyrics. And just to make life difficult for your average footballer, apparently 'The melody might be considered difficult to sing, as it requires a vocal range, external of a minor fourteenth.'

    Good luck lads.

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender at the Stade de France for BBC Radio 5 live

Realistically France should win comfortably, but this seems to be the year of the underdog. Look at what Wales have done. Look at what Iceland have done to get this far. If France don't approach this in the right manner, there's every chance of a huge upset.

  14. Iceland's route to the last eightpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

Iceland opened up with a memorable 1-1 draw with Portugal, with Birkir Bjarnason scoring their equaliser. Cristiano Ronaldo moaned about their "small mentality" and added that they would not achieve anything in the tournament. Little did he know.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's opener against Hungary in game number two looked to put them on the brink of the last 16 before they conceded a late own goal for 1-1.

That did not knock their confidence and they beat Austria 2-1 to progress. You may remember an Icelandic commentator's ecstatic celebrations.

And then in the last 16, the smallest country ever to play in the Euros pulled off the greatest win in their history, beating England 2-1. You might have read about it at the time.

Enforced changes for France boss Didier Deschamps with defender Adil Rami and midfielder N'Golo Kante, superb for Leicester last season, both suspended.

In come Barcelona-bound Samuel Umtiti and Moussa Sissoko with France expected to line up 4-2-3-1.

Iceland are loathe to change a winning formula. They named the same side for their first four games at Euro 2016 and it is same again here.

Nine Iceland players are one booking from a suspension.

  17. France's route to the last eightpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

France have yet to put in a 90-minute performance at Euro 2016 but nobody can doubt their ability to handle the pressure. When they have had to score, they have scored.

In the tournament opener, they beat Romania 2-1 thanks to Dimitri Payet's 89th-minute winner.

They left it even later against Albania, winning 2-0 with both goals coming after the 90th minute.

Les Bleus had already qualified for the last 16 when they drew 0-0 with Switzerland in the Group A finale.

They faced a real scare in the last 16, after Robbie Brady gave the Republic of Ireland a second-minute lead but they rallied after the break and Antoine Griezmann scored twice in four second-half minutes to send the Irish home.

Nine of Iceland's starting XI are one booking away from missing the semi-finals. Nine!

Kari Arnason, Birkir Bjarnason, Johann Gudmundsson, Aron Gunnarsson, Hannes Halldorsson, Birkir Saevarsson, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Ari Skulason all know one slip tonight could cost them dearly.

France and Arsenal duo Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny are also walking that disciplinary tightrope.

There are four players already ruled out for the three confirmed semi-finalists thanks to two bookings in five games - Aaron Ramsey and Ben Davies for Wales, William Carvalho for Portugal and Germany's Mats Hummels.
