Robert Lewandowski is a top proven scorer and although he has not scored yet at this tournament, he keeps getting in there.

He is a clever player. Although he is snatching at a few chances it wouldn't surprise me if he is the man that makes things happens today.

  2. Is today the day for Lewy?published at 13:52 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

    Switzerland v Poland (14:00 BST)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC One

Robert Lewandowski is a top player, make no mistake but he has not announced himself in the tournament yet, maybe today is the day.

He has snatched at things, not looking the player we expect. He loves a battle, he chases into the channels, a real old-fashioned centre-forward.

He has thunderbolts in his feet but he has not made it happen so far though.

  3. 'Roy gone if England fail'published at 13:48 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

England v Iceland (Monday, 20:00 BST)

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

If England don't beat Iceland then it's impossible for him [Roy Hodgson] to stay. Roy knows that. There's no point talking about it.

    Right. We won't then.

Just 15 minutes to go now then. I'm sure both sides would have settled for this match-up at this stage of the competition.

The winners will play either Portugal or Croatia in the last eight.

You may have heard this already but it's my favourite player stat in our BBC Euros guidebook so I'm telling you again.

Poland midfielder Slawomir Peszko - who had a spell with Wolves a few years back - has four kidneys. FOUR. Count them.

He was diagnosed with duplex kidneys in a medical before signing for Cologne in 2011. Apparently, one in every 5.5m people has the condition...

All eyes on Robert Lewandowski. A striker of his class must surely bloom at some point. Right?

The format means that there are smaller countries here. These fans will have memories that will last a lifetime. You cannot buy that.

  8. On the spotpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

    Switzerland v Poland (14:00 BST)

Will it be tight? A reminder that we could go all the way to penalties this afternoon.

Switzerland have the unenviable record of being the worst team ever on penalties - even worse than England!

In their only shootout during the 2006 World Cup the Swiss missed all three penalties they took to go down 3-0 to Ukraine. Woeful.

Poland have never been in a shootout at a major tournament.

  9. 'Expect it to be tight'published at 13:38 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

    Switzerland v Poland (14:00 BST)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC One

You get to stay or go home now. I expect to be it to be tight and conservative like it was early on in the tournament, teams feeling each other out but we will see the end result.

This is when the quality shows.

  10. Get Eddie inpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

    Switzerland v Poland (14:00 BST)

Two days before England face Iceland in the last 16 but there's already been a huge England victory today with the rugby union boys completing a 44-40 win over Australia to complete a historic 3-0 series win.

  11. 'The edge will come today'published at 13:36 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC One

I am a fan of the footballing family getting to share in the tournament, it starts properly now though. We will get the focus and maybe more goals.

The edge will come in today.

Just half an hour to go until the knockout stage begins then. We've spent the best part of two weeks eliminating eight teams - three more will be out by bedtime.

The format may not be the best but you can't beat an international tournament can you? Makes me feel like this...

  16. First impressionspublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

    Switzerland v Poland (14:00 BST)

This tournament will be the first chance that a lot of Arsenal fans have had to see their new big money signing in midfield.

Granit Xhaka has impressed me on the ball. He's big, likes a tackle, comes and gets the ball off the back four, dictates play, decent in the air...

He was possibly given the runaround at times by Paul Pogba though.

What have you made of him so far?

  17. Time to show uppublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

    Switzerland v Poland (14:00 BST)

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski is arguably the star name on show today – after scoring 42 goals for Bayern Munich this season - but has so far been labelled as one of the biggest disappointments of the competition.

Lewandowski scored in the 17th minute of his first game at the Euros, against Greece in 2012. Since then, he’s failed to find the net or deliver an assist in the competition in 523 minutes.

You can blame my bet on him for the golden boot if you like...

He may have failed to record a single shot on target thus far but will be boosted by his record against Switzerland’s first-choice centre-backs Johan Djourou and Fabian Schar in 2015-16. He scored at least once in all three games played against them and their respective Hamburg and Hoffenheim clubs, four in total.

In comes Eintracht Frankfurt forward Haris Seferovic, one of seven Bundesliga players in the starting line-up, in place of 19-year-old Breel Embolo.

In come midfielders Krzysztof Maczynski,Kamil Grosicki and Jakub Błaszczykowski as well as defender Łukasz Piszczek.

Swansea City's Łukasz Fabianski starts in goal while skipper Robert Lewandowski goes in search of his first goal of the tournament.

The signs may suggest that we might not be blessed with a hat full of goals this afternoon then - but let us remember the great ones we have already seen.

    What's your favourite?

It's a potentially epic day ahead, with the clash of Wales and Northern Ireland dominating the agenda for fans in the UK at least.

One of Switzerland, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Wales, Northern Ireland, Belgium or Hungary will reach the final of Euro 2016. Who can take advantage of this wide open draw?
