I feel bad even describing this as a chance but Ivan Perisic has just volleyed tamely over from the edge of the box.

Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 liveI'm running out of ways to describe this game without being super critical or negative. It's impossible not to be. There's hundreds of millions of pounds of talent out there.

Ivan Rakitic covers himself in more glory with a free-kick that is at least 15 feet above any man in the box and goes out for a goal-kick.

I would suggest that if you have a wall in your house where the paint is dry you might want to watch it more closely, just to see if it dries some more. Nothing to see here in Lens.

The answer is a resounding nothing. I hear people wax lyrical about Ivan Rakitic but his free-kick fires straight into the boot of the first man, who clears. I can do that.

This could be interesting. Darijo Srna is nudged over right on the edge of the box, near the right byline. What can Croatia fashion from this?

The fear of losing is strangling the life out of this game. As is the lack of execution. The ball is swung to the back post for Ivan Perisic but he slices his effort well wide on the volley.
Where's Ronaldo?published at 21:26 British Summer Time 25 June 2016

Midway through the second half and Cristiano Ronaldo has just had his first touch of the ball inside the Croatia box.
In total he has had no shots on target, no shots off target and created no chances.
Quiet.

That is just dire. Cedric has chance to cross from the right but hammers it wildly over everyone and out for a throw on the far side. Nearly 70 minutes gone and we are still awaiting an effort on target.

Ronaldo finally has a touch in the box, from a long ball forward. But after controlling on his chest, the forward has the ball whipped away from him by Domagoj Vida.

Nani - never a man to take contact in the box lightly (no matter how light it actually is) - tumbles to the turf after shouldering an effort wide. He gets in four rolls before then looking up to see if he has a penalty. He doesn't. But to be fair to him, it could well have been one. His marker definitely caught him after the ball had been put past the post. Doesn't excuse the theatrics, though.

Jack of all trades: The longer this game goes the more it looks like Portugal will nick a goal and hold on.

Huge chance for Croatia! It comes from a free-kick on the right that is well-delivered and met by Domagoj Vida but headed just past the far post. Best chance for Croatia so far.
