Jurgen Klopp isn't going to sleep well tonight. The Liverpool boss will be lying awake wondering what he could have - and maybe should have - done differently. Many Reds fans will be trying to forget all about it. Most likely helped by a stiff drink.

Hopefully the hangover will have disappeared by Saturday - there's the small matter of the FA Cup final to concentrate on. See you then!

"This could have been 4-1 or 5-1 in the end. Liverpool completely lost it. If you say to me now can I rememeber anyone who played well in the second half then I'd say Kolo Toure had a good game, Dejan Lovren was decent and there was lots of running from Nathaniel Clyne. But there were a lot who were anonymous. You can't get away with carrying five or six player in a game of this magnitude." 

Anthony Amodeo: That's why I love Klopp. He knows what the problems are and doesn't mince words. Have to hope he can sort it in the summer.

Sevilla defender Daniel Carrico: "It is three seasons in a row now and it is our competition. We have won and our star Antonio Puerta is up there, he is helping us.

"Liverpool played a good first half but the manager told us we need to change the game, we needed to believe and we did what he said. Scoring easily in the second half helped us and Liverpool did not have any chances.

"Next season we will be in the Champions League and it is another challenge for us. We will see what happens next season but it is now time to celebrate."

Sevilla defender Antonio Puerta died in 2007 after suffering a heart attack in a league match against Getafe.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "To be honest, what I think about not being in the Champions League, is that we have to use the time. It is not about the size of the squad, it is about using the time in training to get better. I promise everybody we will use it and come back stronger. It was 50-60% of our usual quality and we have to accept that. We will come back."

"Let's rewind. Liverpool didn't have by the end of August another player who could play left-back unless they moved Nathaniel Clyne from the right. Jose Enrique was never going to play. I'm sorry Brendan Rodgers gets the blame for me. Moreno has made mistakes all season - basic errors. Where was he for Villarreal's goal the other week? He was trying to score a goal at the other end."

"Experience was key after conceding. Where was the central defender or captain saying 'circle the wagons for 20 minutes - we do not concede and we get ourselves back into game'. That is something Liverpool just didn't do."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "I don't expect the belief, they need to have it. We could not reach our level. It is now my job to not let the players feel the pressure too much. 

"We saw it in the game after they scored the first goal. It changed. A lot of people may have thought we could change it again. The goals were too easy.

"In this moment, I am responsible for this performance. There is no criticism and I have spoken to my players. Nobody in the stadium believed, I thought we could change it but it was not enough.

lfcway: Klopp's post much interview after a defeat just gives you so much hope. He will sort it out. No doubt.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "The start I was not happy with, we scored wonderful goal and had a disallowed goal. 1-0 at half time is usually good.

"The first goal is not a problem, what happened after that is the problem. We lost faith completely in our style of play, we lost shape and we were nervous in defence.

"That shows our development is not as good as hoped. We have to carry on and use this experience, I am sure we will be strong. It is disappointment and frustration tonight."

Sevilla manager Unai Emery has had to accept and deal with selling his best players. Not just one but some summers it's been two, three or four players. I would suggest when he first went in there he was told exactly what the scenario was and he has dealt with it superbly."

St-Jakob Park is virtually empty, except for one corner packed with celebrating Sevilla fans. Their heroes are still out in front of them on the pitch, passing the trophy around to huge cheers. The Liverpool fans who turned Basel's stadium into a mini-Anfield have headed into the night. Presumably to stick their head in a glass at the nearest watering hole.

"I would imagine a lot of homework has gone into this [new signings this summer]. I'd imagine Liverpool have spoken to agents and will have an indication of whether players are coming. If you are in a room with Jurgen Klopp then I'd think it was hard to say no to him. This summer's transfer window is going to be the biggest ever in the Premier League in terms of money spent."

Here he is - Jurgen Klopp is stood in front of the cameras. The Liverpool gaffer manages half a smile before he speaks to BT Sport in the St-Jakob Park tunnel.

"We have to use this experience," he says before fiddling with the zip on his tracksuit top.

"We Iost faith...I'm responsible too...I have no criticism of my players..." a few snippets from the twitching German. 

Clearly he is not happy, but seems keen to take the positives....

"Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge are not going anywhere this summer - other than on holiday. Jurgen Klopp knew that within two weeks of taking over he needed to bring in players. Why didn't he address it in January? He probably did but could not get the right personnel in."

"I'm coming down so you'd better get the party started...!" Sevilla's players are probably not signing Pink as they celebrate back on the St-Jakob Park pitch. But the party is just starting for the Spanish side. It won't be going long into the night though - they're playing Barca in the Copa del Rey at the weekend.
