I'm like the fans and the players, very disappointed. We played against a strong team and they were better in the game. I must say thank you to the fans, they were the best fans in Wembley. We are proud of what we did during this season. This moment is something we must put in our heart and play with this next season.

Hull promoted to the Premier League

Today's victory is a record-breaking achievement for Steve Bruce, who is the first manager to win four promotions to the top flight in the Premier League era.

The former Manchester United defender took Birmingham up in 2002 and 2007, and was also promoted with Hull in 2013.

So, Steve Bruce's Hull City are the winners of the most lucrative game in the history of domestic English football so far, thanks to Mohamed Diame's 10th goal of the season.

The Senegal international, fed by Robert Snodgrass, struck a sweet strike in the 72nd minute to secure an immediate return to the Premier League for the Tigers.

Sheffield Wednesday battled away but could not find a way through and will now spend a 17th year outside the top flight.

Thanks for your company - I now hand you over to Olly Wright for more reaction.

Next season will be the 150th in the history of Sheffield Wednesday - but sadly for them they'll be spending it in the second tier.
