Germany 1-1 England
Better England! Teddy Sheringham pops on the left side of the box, shimmies into space and clips up into the six-yard box. He's looking for the other partner in the feared SAS, but Shearer is beaten to the ball by Thomas Helmer.
Germany 1-1 England
Well, well, well. That's burst Wembley's bubble a little. The home fans launch into the Twickenham anthem of 'Swing Low' to boost their team.

You can watch that German goal here. If you want.

Skeems: Stuart Pearce very much at fault for the Germany goal
One of the very few suitable for work tweets we had on that goal...
Germany 1-1 England
Trevor Brooking
Former West Ham and England midfielder at Wembley
“Stuart Pearce, like Gareth Southgate, puts his hand up for offside. He’s not offside. As it comes back across it is a vital yard that Kuntz has got ahead of Pearce. And that cost the equaliser.”
Stefan Kuntz
Ah. Peel yourself off the ceiling folks. Germany are level!
Germany defender Thomas Helmer, for some unexplainable reason, finds himself in the left channel of the England penalty area. Shades of Beckenbauer! He swings his left peg to cross low into the danger zone and there is Stefan Kuntz.
He ghosts goal side of Stuart Pearce, sliding in to fire home from seven yards. David Seaman has no chance.
Germany 0-1 England
More decent defending by Gareth Southgate. The England man scampers across to deal with a long ball, heading down to Paul Ince. But England lose possession quickly and it is back with the Germans.
Germany 0-1 England
Nine players are walking a disciplinary tightrope tonight. One lapse of concentration and they’re being fed to the Uefa lions.
Tony Adams, Gareth Southgate, Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham are the English quartet a booking away from becoming this year’s Gazza. You know, the tears in Turin six years ago.
Stefan Reuter, Matthias Sammer, Andreas Moller, Christian Ziege and Stefan Kuntz are the German quintet also in danger of missing the final.
Go steady boys.

Quote MessageDavid Seaman says he doesn’t really like the kit he has to play in tonight – I don’t entirely blame him
Germany 0-1 England
Germany slowly growing into this game. Mehmet Scholl, the diminutive Bayern Munich magician, swings in a cross from the right. No problem for David Seaman. The England keeper, by the way, is dressed like the ice lolly that I had in Fulham Palace Park at the weekend.

Daddy Dewi: I still tense up watching England v Germany. What a game, live tv at its best and Twitter isn't even close.
SJ: Loved that tournament. Still remember them playing Walk Away by Cast at the v. end of that BBC broadcast after we lost on pens
Rob: love these rewinds, but not sure I have this one in me. One of these days, Gazza will get a toe on it...
Germany 0-1 England
Mehmet Scholl clatters Stuart Pearce with a late challenge. Pearce confronts the little German with the demeanour of British Bulldog after the WWF superstar has just been clothes-lined by Macho Man Randy Savage.
Trevor Brooking says: “I know who my money would be on in that confrontation…”

“Gascoigne with an early ball this time, which McManaman turns round and maybe suggests that maybe had he been a greyhound which they have here sometimes would he have caught that.”
Germany 0-1 England
Germany are sniffing around the left edge of the England box, but Gareth Southgate mops up. The Aston Villa centre-back has been excellent in this tournament. England go forward again, but Gazza's long ball is too strong for Steve McManaman down the left flank.

Rob Sutton: Just put the #euro96rewind on and Shearer has put England in front, German defence all over the shop, what could go wrong from here!!
Michael Blighe: Heard a rumour that Alan's heading back home to play for Newcastle after the Euros. Certainly hope so!
Germany 0-1 England
It's a big day for Germany striker Stefan Kuntz, who starts up front because of Jurgen Klinsmann's injury.
The 33-year-old, who played for Besiktas last season, has not scored in nine competitive appearances for Germany. His four goals in 21 caps have all come in friendlies.
Germany 0-1 England
Gazza gets the Wembley crowd geed up again with a thumping tackle on Stefan Reuter. As if they need it. First brief threat from the Germans, David Seaman gathering a loose ball. England looking very comfortable so far. Can't see where the German threat will come from without Klinsmann.
Germany 0-1 England
Trevor Brooking
Former West Ham and England midfielder at Wembley
“Germany are having to look at themselves and say ‘how are we going to sort this one out?’
"They have tried to get Andreas Moller as the closest man to Kuntz, but they’ve got these defensive midfielders in Eilts, Freund and Sammer, who is pushing in from the sweeper role.
"That means they’ve almost got six or seven defenders in a system where you find yourselves 1-0 down. How long will it take before Vogts changes?”
Germany 0-1 England
England still on top after that opening goal. Gazza clashes heads with German destroyer Dietmar Eilts. They're both alright.
Seconds later, Gazza finds some space on the edge of the box. He looks for David Platt but overcooks his chipped pass.
