"It would have been gutting for either side to lose. Switzerland created the better chances but Romania's work-rate was incredible. Defeat for them would have broken your heart.

"Switzerland have lots of ability, but they've got a real problem at centre-forward. This is a great result for the French. Beat Albania tonight and they're through."

A decent game indeed. It ends up a point apiece. Switzerland will be the happier side but Romania live to see another day...

Still they come. A draw is a good result for the Swiss but they want all three points. Michael Lang crosses in but it's away...

Romania corner, well cleared. This one is going to the wire. 

Swiss free-kick, easily held. 

Florin Andone, who started up front for Romania in Friday night's opener, is on, while the Swiss bring on Michael Lang for Blerim Dzemaili.

Both teams out for a winner. 

Mel Rodriguez, London: @64 mins - do we really want Breel Embolo in the Premier League if he cites Mario Balotelli as his hero? Surely that means he will spend a year sitting on the bench and then getting loaned back to Basel?

If you stare at that long enough you'll see a dragon. Or a castle. Or something. 

This will give you an idea of how much better Switzerland have been with the ball.

You would think that Romania were down to 10 men, maybe nine, the way this game is going. They look out on their feet. Hanging onto the ropes. 

Breel Embolo is giving Romania nightmares of Transylvanian levels. He has too much pace and power for the men in yellow and Dragos Grigore is into the book for hacking him down. Xherdan Shaqiri curls the free kick over and Blerim Dzemaili then fires over when well placed.

"Shaqiri had so much time. There was no need to go for that. Take it down on your chest and there's a chance to volley it. There was no likelihood of that coming off."

CONTROL! Xherdan Shaqiri is left in oceans of space at the far post, so much time, but instead of chesting the ball down he launches himself into a contortionist's overhead kick, fluffing the ball wide.

Romania look goosed, they've put in a mammoth shift in the Parisian sun and it's beginning to show. A few heavy touches, a lazy waft of the leg from keeper Ciprian Tatarusanu and Swiss newcomer Breel Embolo almost capitalises on it.
