  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 49 mins

    Slovakia 0-0 Northern Ireland

Paddy McNair goes into the book for a foul on Weiss. It gives Slovakia a free-kick and they are unlucky not to score as Weiss fires the ball through a crowd and straight into the midriff of the surprised and grateful Michael McGovern.

"That is a massive miss. Weiss opened his body up and the pass was superb.

"I think Weiss was offside but he doesn't hit the target."

Big chance early in the second half. Patrik Hrosovsky plays a belter of a ball inside the Northern Ireland full-back for Vladimir Weiss, but he makes a real mess of his angled effort, which he scoops over the bar as if he is wearing jester's shoes.

Slovakia v Northern Ireland (19:45 BST)

"From threatening to preside over one of Northern Ireland's most embarrassing footballing eras, O'Neill has transformed it into glory that will now be showcased in France."

That is just a snippet from the piece our chief football writer Phil McNulty wrote following Northern Ireland's qualification for Euro 2016.

"Defensively, very, very organised, not enough quality to the front men but it is resilient.

"We are in the game and that will be very, very, important in the finals."

"Kozacik was very, very fortunate there you'd expect him to hold it.

"I thought Steve Davis was just going to poke it in but the goalkeeper redeems himself."

Matus Kozacik, you lucky boy. Chris Baird strikes the free-kick low and through the wall. It should be an easy save for the home keeper but he spills it and just recovers in time to flick the ball away from Steven Davis, who would otherwise surely have put the away side ahead from just a few yards out.

"This is the last game before the Euros and you don't need challenges like that.

"The referee is going to have to start booking people."

Another late challenge, with Martin Skrtel charging into Jamie Ward. No card, though. It offers Northern Ireland a dangerous free-kick, 25 yards from goal...

Last couple of minutes of the half. Slovakia pressing for an opening goal. Hamsik continuing to pull the strings. He swings a cross into the box, which is just a yard too high for Michal Duris.

"Mak's second touch was poor but I am going to give credit to McGovern, he stayed tall and spread himself just at the right time.

"All credit to Michael McGovern he has done very very well."

Huge chance for Slovakia! Robert Mak runs clear of the Northern Ireland defence but his second touch is the kind you'd expect from the Honey Monster and it allows Michael McGovern to race out and dive at his feet to block.

Oliver Norwood is over the free-kick, but his delivery is awful and headed clear by the wall. A waste.

This is a chance. Kyle Lafferty gets the wrong side of Jan Durica on the right side of the pitch and is dragged back. Free-kick just on the edge of the box...

Slovakia win another corner courtesy of Shane Ferguson's interception from a long ball into the box. Kyle Lafferty is back and does well to head away the delivery into the box.
