  1. 'Positive play from Scotland'published at 59 mins

    France 3-0 Scotland

Former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson: "It has been a positive substitution so far with Mulgrew and Anya coming on and linking up together well down the left-hand side. That was probably the most impressive piece of play Scotland have had, with Steven Fletcher almost getting on the end of the cross."

  2. Switching Stevenspublished at 58 mins

    France 3-0 Scotland

Now, if ever there's a Scotland player who could add energy and a bit of bite it's Steven Naismith. He comes on for his 43rd cap, with Steven Fletcher departing the scene.

  4. 'Damage limitation time'published at 51 mins

    France 3-0 Scotland

Former Scotland assistant boss Peter Houston on Radio Scotland: "I think Scotland would take 3-0 now if you offered it to them. They have brought a couple of experienced players on but France have got far too much quality for us just now. It is damage limitation - that is what it has to be from now until the end of the game."

France manager Didier Deschamps looks mightily satisfied at how his team are playing as Paul Pogba troubles the Scotland defence with almost the first action of the second period.

    France 3-0 Scotland

Scots Ikechi Anya and Charlie Mulgrew are on for Shaun Maloney and Andrew Robertson, while for France Anthony Martial and Antoine Griezmann have replaced Dimitri Payet and Kingsley Coman.

  8. Scotland 'have to defend better'published at 21:04 British Summer Time 4 June 2016

    France 3-0 Scotland

Former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson on Radio Scotland: "Gordon Greer and Grant Hanley at times have been so poor and the French have been getting balls into the box so easily. You want players to defend as if their lives depend on it and they are not doing that. We knew it was going to be a tough night where we wouldn't see too much of the ball, but we have got to be better defensively. James McArthur and Darren Fletcher should be offering protection for the back four, but I can't remember McArthur even getting close to anyone. In my opinion they have let us down."

  11. On other dark nights...published at 20:57 British Summer Time 4 June 2016

    France 3-0 Scotland

In fact, Scotland's last proper pasting was at the hands of the USA in Jacksonville, Florida in May 2012. The score? 5-1.

  12. Metz miserypublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 4 June 2016

    France 3-0 Scotland

It's not a good sign when my fellow journalists are poring over soccer stats to see when Scotland last suffered "a right tanking", as one glum-faced colleague put it.

  13. 'It could be a long second half'published at 20:52 British Summer Time 4 June 2016

    France 3-0 Scotland

Former Scotland assistant boss Peter Houston on Radio Scotland: "At 30 minutes it was only 1-0 and Scotland would have been quite happy with that at half-time, thinking they had got away with it. But it could be a long second half now because this French side are far too good for us. They are so talented, their mobility is fantastic, they have world-class players and are as talented a team as I have seen at international level for quite a while. Scotland's touch has been poor, they have given the ball away cheaply and had to chase lost causes as a result."

  17. 'Who is marking who?'published at 20:46 British Summer Time 4 June 2016

    France 3-0 Scotland

Former Scotland assistant boss Peter Houston on Radio Scotland: "Giroud reacted quicker than Grant Hanley for the second goal, and yet again we didn't pick up from the corner for the third. You have got to match runners, and ask 'who is marking who?' Koscielny has got the easiest goal he will ever score there."

  18. 'So easy for France'published at 20:46 British Summer Time 4 June 2016

    France 3-0 Scotland

BBC Scotland reporter Alasdair Lamont in Metz: "It's an indication of how dominant and comfortable France are that even before half time the home fans are doing Mexican waves. It's been so easy for France to slice through the visitors and Gordon Strachan must fear that this could turn into a real embarrassment."

  19. Scotland being swept awaypublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 4 June 2016

    France 3-0 Scotland

BBC Scotland commentator Liam McLeod: "Scotland are a pedalo in a tropical storm here."
