Bournemouth have lost all six of their Premier League games played on a Sunday. The Cherries have gone 11 Premier League games without keeping a clean sheet, last keeping a shutout in March.

Only Alan Shearer and Frank Lampard (8) have scored more opening day Premier League goals than Wayne Rooney (7).

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has also confirmed that the club have agreed a fee to sign Stoke's Republic of Ireland defender Marc Wilson, 28.

"You can't lambaste individuals for that - it's the game. The second half was more difficult and they got their goals in quick succession.

"But credit to the lads - they got back into the game and had a strong end. We didn't pen them in enough and put them under pressure. 

"Lewis Cook has exceptional talent. He fitted in very well, he has a good mentality. He'll only get better. I thought Jordon Ibe did well in flashes. He showed what he will bring to us with dribble and counter attacking. He's an exciting talent. There's more to come from him."

To Sky Sports:"We have made a real statement bringing in four great signings and the new manager. There is a lot of excitement from ourselves and the fans.

Jose Mourinho: "Paul Pogba is very good, he's a phenomenal player. Our idea is that he will be a very important player for us. 

"In August it can be frustrating for players not in the team, because it's one game a week. But in September we have the League Cup, the Europa League starts and there's international games. It's a real marathon and then there’s space for everyone. That’s why we have such a good squad.

"I met a sad squad in my first day, a squad not happy with their situation. But I found immediately a team who want to work and win matches and titles, as well as making fans proud."

More from Jose Mourinho to BBC Sport: "It’s incredible how Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never won the Golden Ball. He wants to win the Premier League, not the Golden Ball."

On comparisons with Wayne Rooney: "Different times, different ages. Eric Cantona was here at the best moment in his career. This guy [Zlatan] is more than a player. For the next two seasons I think he can be phenomenal for the team and the Premier League."

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho told BBC Sport: "I am very happy. Bournemouth always start with great intensity but we kept our control. We weren’t surprised and then we started playing. 

"In the second half we had a bit more confidence. 

"But you make a mistake in the Premier League and you get punished [when Bournemouth scored]. Instead of going for a bigger result you have to try to control. We went for that and were always in control. I’m happy with the team."

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Sky Sports: "The team did good. It was a difficult game. In the first half we weren't 100% but we had more space in the second half and could play our game.

"It's important to start good. It [being new to the league] is not easy. Everything is new for me, my team-mates, the clubs, the environment. i just play my game. 

"I try to do my job and help my team. The first objective is to win, it's also good if I score. But it's the same importance whoever scores."

That interview was very noteworthy for a lack of ego by the way.

His coaching staff remained to celebrate with the players.

The whole job is not done yet though. Substitutes Marcus Rashford, Morgan Schneiderlin, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Michael Carrick are doing a post-match training session.
