Just one minute of stoppage time at the end of the first half. Can Liverpool turn all this possession - now up to 78% - into a goal, or even a meaningful chance?

Liverpool have been too intricate, too often and although they probably deserve a goal back before half-time they just have not been incisive. They've got to push-on now they are 2-0 down and that brings with it risk.

It isn't Philippe Coutinho's day so far. Some of his passing has been poor - his accuracy is just 76% so far - and he has just fired over the bar again too. That's the third time he has missed the target.

Sam Vokes did it earlier - now it is Andre Gray's turn. That was the former Hinckley United's striker's first Premier League goal.

I'm looking in front of me and I'm seeing delight and disbelief! They've struggled to get a kick at times this half but when they have had it they have caused Klaven and Lovren problems. It's a long way back for Liverpool now...

GOAL - Burnley 2-0 Liverpoolpublished at 37 mins

    Andre Gray (37 mins)

Where did this come from? Seriously...

Burnley have been under almost constant pressure and seen hardly anything of the ball but they have made the most of it here... New signing Steven Defour brings the ball forward, running through a weak Ragnar Klavan challenge on the halfway line, then feeding Andre Gray to his right. Gray cuts inside on the edge of the area and then sends a low shot skidding past Simon Mignolet and into the opposite corner of the net.

Burnley are still trying to spring forward when they do win the ball back but it is not really happening for them - whether it is Andre Gray or George Boyd running forward, they always end up being crowded out before Liverpool go back on the attack.

As pleasing on the eye as it is from Liverpool, that final ball just isn't there. You'll love it to a certain degree but if you are 1-0 with 10 minutes to go I'm sure the Liverpool fans will be pretty frustrated.

Liverpool continue to press and probe and, rather than shoot this time, Philippe Coutinho tries to slip in Georginio Wijnaldum... but just puts a bit too much on his pass. It is fair to say the visitors are knocking on the door here.

Better by Liverpool - still off target, but not by much. It opens up a bit for Daniel Sturridge outside the box. He looks to curl his shot into the bottom corner of the net... and is not far away.

There has been a change to Burnley's defensive line. They've shifted themselves up about 20 yards and that's very dangerous I think. It is exactly what Liverpool will want.

More quick passing from Liverpool with stand-in left-back James Milner combining with Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho, whose cross is put behind for a corner, which Liverpool play short.

They feed it to Coutinho, who lets fly from the edge of the box, but his shot is blocked by Burnley birthday boy Stephen Ward, 31 today.

Burnley accept a lack of possession and just get eight men behind they ball. They are essentially saying to Liverpool you've got to be clever enough to break us down. But playing that deep is very difficult to keep up for 90 minutes.

Well, Burnley keeper Tom Heaton has just made his first save... but you would not exactly say he was stretched.

Adam Lallana swivels nicely in the area but does not get hold of his shot, which dribbles towards goal. Heaton pounces on it like the cat in the Turf Moor press box.

Liverpool are passing the ball really well now, sharp passing in the final third. Burnley instead are lumping it forward to the two strikers so they can reach the final third.
