Philippe Coutinho is still at the centre of things for Liverpool. This time, after a patient build-up, he decides to go a bit more direct, lifting the ball into the Burnley area, but Tom Heaton is alert and off his line to reach it before Daniel Sturridge.

Tactically very different from both sides here. One player on the park is getting more space than anyone else and unfortunately for Burnley fans it's Phillipe Coutinho. You can't give him time and space.

More Liverpool pressure. Lots more, in fact, Jordan Henderson whips a cross in but Matthew Lowton is there before Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool's possession percentage now stands at more than 75% but they still have not forced Tom Heaton into a save.

    Burnley 1-0 Liverpool

Burnley are dropping deep and letting Liverpool have the ball - so deep, in fact, they are letting them get into their penalty area. Adam Lallana has space to cross after a darting run but his cross is cleared before it reaches Roberto Firmino, who was lurking at the near post.

    Burnley 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool are seeing more of the ball - 66% of possession to be exact - but Burnley are set up in two banks of four to keep them at bay and the Reds are being restricted to shots from distance at the moment.

Philippe Coutinho is getting closer, though, because his latest effort - again from just outside the box - dipped just over Tom Heaton's bar.

Philippe Coutinho looks to make immediate amends for that mistake, finding space and looking to bend one in to the top corner from outside the box in trademark style. This time, he overcooks it... and the ball flies over.

    Burnley 1-0 Liverpool

Burnley clear their lines when the ball comes across and, although Liverpool keep hold of the ball, their spell of pressure ends when Philippe Coutinho puts the ball straight out of play. You don't see that happen too often.

    Burnley 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool's frontmen Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firminio cannot hold the ball up when it is played up to them. Not much of a response from the visitors yet, although they do have a corner after a Sturridge shot from distance is deflected well wide.

This is Sam Vokes' 28th Premier League appearance by the way. If you are a Clarets fan, that was worth the wait.

Burnley have just had another sniff too, with George Boyd galloping down the right and into the area, but Dejan Lovren got across to slide in and clear.

You can more than question the defence. [Jurgen Klopp] wants them to play it out of the back but they give it straight to Sam Vokes.

Wow, what a way to score your first Premier League goal.

Nathaniel Clyne goes all Alberto Moreno on us and gives the ball away. Andre Gray feeds Sam Vokes on the edge of the area and the big Wales striker takes a touch before thumping it past Simon Mignolet.

A little bit untidy from both teams in the opening moments, understandable given the wet and windy conditions.

    Burnley v Liverpool (15:00 BST)

It was a case of same old story for Burnley on their return to the Premier League - effort and endeavour far outweighed creativity and sharpness in front of goal as Swansea nicked the points at Turf Moor.

At least the Clarets supporters have been given a clear indication that Sean Dyche is determined to put things right with the record signing of Belgian playmaker Steven Defour from Anderlecht.

It's an eye-catching deal but further reinforcements look to be needed before the transfer window shuts.

Liverpool lurched from scintillating to shambolic during their extraordinary opener at Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp has strengthened an already potent attack but that porous defence may require some transfer window shopping as well.

You could forgive the Liverpool and Burnley players for wanting to stay in their dressing rooms actually. No sign of the sun at Turf Moor, just a dark sky, spots of rain and a ferocious wind. It looks a bit chilly, to say the least.
