It looks like the Burnley defence will be tested today... but will Liverpool's back-line do any better than they fared against Arsenal last weekend?

  3. What difference will Defour make?published at 14:43 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

Paul Pogba made his Manchester United debut on Friday night after his £89m world record move - now it is the turn of Steven Defour to make his first start for Burnley, after the Clarets broke their transfer record to sign the Belgium international for around £8m from Anderlecht.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche said: "In the Premier League world, the numbers that get bandied around seems really small. But for us, they are actually big for a club like Burnley.

"For us, it's a big thing to spend millions of pounds. For others, it's just like, 'park that, let's move on and get another one in'. That's the vast difference in the market."

    How will Defour do, then?

Dyche adds: "He knows it will be a challenge for us. He's not coming in thinking we will be rolling around the top three all season.

"He knows it will be a challenge and he wants to be part of that."

Burnley give a debut to new £8m midfielder Steven Defour, who joined for a club record fee in midweek. The Belgian replaces David Jones, who has joined Sheffield Wednesday, but otherwise the Clarets are unchanged from the side that lost to Swansea last week.

The headline news from Jurgen Klopp's team selection is that Alberto Moreno, heavily criticised by some Liverpool fans after his display in last week's win over Arsenal, has been dropped to the bench. James Milner comes in. The only other change sees Daniel Sturridge replace Sadio Mane, who suffered a shoulder injury in training.

  5. Two away wins, or two home defeats?published at 14:30

Funny how a switch in venue in your second game of the season can, potentially, set the early season mood for both clubs involved.

Liverpool's game with Burnley has been moved to Turf Moor because the new stand at Anfield is not quite ready, and the consequences could be interesting...

Victory for Liverpool would mean they have won two out of two games on the road after their thrilling win at Arsenal last week, send a signal that last season's problems with consistency and so-called lesser teams away from home are no longer such an issue, and underline their credentials as title contenders.

Defeat for Burnley would mean two defeats out of two at home, and mean that what might have looked the ideal set of fixtures for a newly promoted club desperate to get points on the board has turned into a little bit of a nightmare.

So, all to play for then... after all that, my prediction is a draw.
