Leicester City's former player and now club ambassador Alan Birchenall is, as usual, revving things up with his pre-match announcements here at The King Power Stadium.

Never one to keep the volume down, Birchenall has just warned Leicester City's fans: "They're all after our scalps this season."

A blast on the old hunting horn and we're off.

Nessun Dorma is belting out over the airwaves at the King Power Stadium. Still a big party mood round these parts. They've even got cheerleaders. Is that new?

Italian opera is smoothly followed by:

The Premier League champions return home to The King Power Stadium today as Leicester City face last season's runners-up Arsenal in a game which has already assumed importance.

Leicester City lost at newly-promoted Hull City last week while the usual August buzz of discontent surrounds Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after they lost 4-3 at home to Liverpool.

Wenger's transfer market activity, or lack of, is being questioned and one of his targets will be in front of his eyes today in Jamie Vardy, who rejected a summer move to the Gunners.

Great atmosphere, as ever, at The King Power Stadium, home of the Premier League champions.

Is Nigel Pearson hurt by what happened at Leicester? Would you expect it not to hurt? His former team, a side he largely assembled, went on to win the league last season - and it was the greatest story in Premier League history.

Nigel Pearson: Pearson: Leicester City departure 'a big shock'

Former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson, now in charge at Derby, gave a frank interview to Football Focus earlier today, in which he talked about his feelings after the Foxes won the Premier League last season.

Pearson, sacked in 2015, said he felt proud but detached as the Foxes won the title for the first time in their 132-year history.

"They've gone on and achieved something that really, in the modern game, is impossible," he said.

"I'm delighted for the players and the staff there."

However, he added: "I felt pride - but I was very detached, actually."

In my dream last night I was rearranging stuff in the fridge. I made extra room for a second milk carton, which is apparently just how my subconscious rolls. Quite damning really.

Claudio Ranieri on the other hand, you'd imagine he'd be a different story. There's rarely a dull moment when he's awake, let alone left at large in the land of nod.

But the Italian will be snoozing far less soundly after last week's defeat by Hull. And what is there to dream of with Leicester Premier League champions? Winning it again? The Champions League?..

There's every chance Arsene Wenger's been turning in his sleep too.

The 4-3 home defeat by Liverpool, the fans calling for him to go, the sense that - with his contract up for renewal - this could be his final season at Arsenal after 20 years...

That's a lot to dwell on before turning the lights out.
