    Hull 0-1 Man Utd

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho: "We deserved it and in a more comfortable way. It is a great feeling when you win the points in the last minute.

"The boys were very strong and the second half was like going to fight against a wall. We had an amazing mentality. We were very strong and tried to create problems for the opposition. We tried and tried and got it.

Sho Rahman: Regardless of Rooney setting up the winner Jose has got to show the guts to drop him in the next game. Was terrible again.

Fissuh Hailu: Well done Wayne Rooney. What an assist. Critics should shut up now.

Fayaz Adam: United's strongest front four could be a joy to watch.. Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan, Martial and Rashford.

  5. 'Fergie time would have been six minutes!'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 27 August 2016

    Hull 0-1 Manchester United

Hull caretaker boss Mike Phelan on conceding in 'Fergie time': "Normally we would get six minutes but we only got four today!

"The Hull players are good players, and good people. They are determined and earned the right to be at this level. They worked hard for 12 months to be here. We have six points from nine and that is what dreams are made of with 13 players are fit.

"I am not going to complain or find fault with the players. We have been trying extremely hard to get players in and now have a small window. We have two or three in the pipeline but they are not done."

Phelan was Sir Alex Ferguson's former assistant at Manchester United.

  6. 'I am proud of my players'published at 19:47 British Summer Time 27 August 2016

    Hull 0-1 Man Utd

Hull caretaker boss Mike Phelan: "It is disappointing for the players, they have put a serious amount of work in to get to a point where they think they have a result.

"You are playing quality sides who bring quality off the bench, but I am proud of the players. They have put hard work in today without getting anything out of it.

"In the first half we were competitive and looked solid, we had a great chance before United scored. You have to be proud of the desire they showed."

That is one of Hull's better performances because Man United are in a different league to the other teams they have played.

There were some outstanding performances out there. Livermore and Davies were outstanding from start to finish. It is cruel for them.

Hull executed their plan to perfection until the 93rd minute.

David Meyler could have won it, but Marcus Rashford has. Meyler lifts a shot over the bar from a good position for Hull only for United to break the hearts of the home side with the winner. Wayne Rooney sends a low cross into the six-yard box and Rashford pokes the ball home from close range in a crowded area.
