That is all from me. Job done for City, who are looking more and more like a Pep Guardiola side.

West Ham take no points home but can take some credit from a spirited display.

    On to the international break.

    I'll see thee.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic, speaking to MOTD: "They were much better in the first half. We knew about their quality on the ball but they were quicker and more aggressive. In the second half we put them under a bit of pressure, the goal helped, but the second half I am more than happy. It gives us hope when the players are out injured.

"We stayed in the game. I wasn't happy at half time, I asked the guys to show character and spirit and a different mentality which they did. Praise for the team for the second half performance.

"A few will be back after the international break. It should be Lanzini and then Payet. That will of course change the shape of the team and the quality of the team.

"Not major [transfers] but you never know."

More from Slaven Bilic: "I did not see the Sergio Aguero incident. We were going to change the centre-half anyway to go four at the back. Winston Reid got a little injured so we took him off.

"To be fair, at half-time I was angry about our mentality and character. We showed our quality and you need to show keeping the ball and wanting to hurt them."

    Man City 3-1 West Ham

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic: "After we scored the goal it was a different West Ham, the one we wanted. We did not start well and straight away they had a couple of corners and then scored. They were much better in the first half.

"We played well in the second half but the team showed character, spirit and something up front. We have an awful lot of players missing.

"The formation change did not work out. We wanted to close the space and the pockets of chances in the box. They were much quicker and deserved to go 2-0 up. We were closer to them in the second half, winning balls and second balls. After we scored, it gave us hope and we had our moments but they are different class."

Pep Guardiola, on whether this is his best game in charge of Manchester City: "In the Premier League, yes.

"Premier League is Premier League, they are strong with the long balls. Of course they have many injuries - this team with Payet and Lanzini would be very strong - but we are satisfied.

"We played here against Sunderland, we were not brilliant like today but we controlled the game. Here it is over when it is over and at 2-0 it is not over.

"I am so satisfied. It is a pleasure to work with these guys in this club. We feel the players believe in what we do and that is more satisfying for the coach of course but that without results is nothing. We go into the international break and start again.

"I am so optimistic, I see many good things about the players but I didn't expect in a short time playing many good things. It shows how good they are."

More from Guardiola on Sky Sports: "In Bucharest [in the Champions League], we played amazing, but in the Premier League, we played only good in minutes against Sunderland and adapted well against Stoke.

"John Stones had a little bit of a problem and did not win the duels. He might have been tired which is why we made the substitution.

"I did not see the Sergio Aguero incident. We will see."

Asked if any transfers? "The players know the situation and have a contract. Everyone knows their situation."

    Man City 3-1 West Ham

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola tells Sky Sports: "When you see how many chances we create, they scored with their first chance. You have to win 3-0 or 4-0 to think the game is over. They played long balls, we had our full-backs and won the second balls. They jumped more than us but we played a good game. Our fans enjoyed it and we are happy.

"They scored a goal in the only way we could concede, by crossing. They are taller than us and play in that style. At 2-1, the emotions, not the tactics, went in. Then we created many chances, I don't know how many shots we had but the performance in general was real good with or without the ball. with the quality of our players, we can be satisfied."

    Man City 3-1 West Ham

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling: "We have players that get into pockets and good with one-twos. We had good build-up and I got in a good position for the first goal.

"For the second, if I did not pass and it hit the post, I would have got caned by my team-mates for it. I thought shooting was the better option.

"Reborn? I keep seeing that word. It was a difficult first season at a new club but the manager Pep Guardiola has come in and given me a lot of courage and authority to go forward. He even had go at me for not dibbling as much."

Over the 90 minutes City could have won four or 5-1 but at 2-1 they looked a little bit vulnerable.

West Ham had a few formations because they are missing players. At 2-1 they could have done with a Manuel Lanzini or an Andy Carroll. That's where West Ham's squad will come into play when they have their players because they will have options.

  11. 'We'll create lots of chances this season'published at 17:59 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Man City 3-1 West Ham

Manchester City forward Kevin de Bruyne: “I think the first half was really good. West Ham didn’t have many chances, you knew they were going to come into more after half-time but overall I think we deserved it.

“We created quite a lot of chances, all the players played really well through the lines which makes it really difficult for the other team to defend. If we can keep it up we will create a lot of chances this season."

City deserved it and were very good in the first half but the big talking point is whether Sergio Aguero will be punished retrospectively.

The replays don't look good. I think he's going to be in trouble. Only Aguero knows if he's elbowed Winston Reid. I can't say he's done it on purpose but on on the replays it looks like he swung his arm back and caught him in the throat.

The last act of the match is for Mark Noble to send a hopeful shot just over the bar. Even if it had gone in it wouldn't have been enough for the Hammers.

Credit to West Ham, they battled back in to that game, but City deservedly take all three points.

    Raheem Sterling

Game over West Ham, game over. Shortly after David Silva is denied by the post with a vicious shot, City come again and Sterling is found on the left byline. The angle is the tightest possible but he somehow manages to thread the ball past Adrian and in. That confirms it is going to be three wins out of three.

Samir Nasri has been lively since he came on. He's made good movements and City should have put this game to bed. They should have got a third goal but they haven't.

Aguero does leave the field, but it is to be substituted as Fernando comes on. Pep is clearly a tad concerned and wants to shut up shop.

Sterling wastes a chance to seal the game by poking a shot past the far post.

West Ham somehow scramble the ball away from their own goal as City looked nailed on to seal this game. Aguero releases Nasri in the box and his dink is saved by the keeper before taking an age to settle in the six-yard box before the ball is finaly hammered clear.

Don't go anywhere, there's still some excitement in this here game.
