    Fernandinho

Brilliant. And wholly unsurprising. Fernandinho is the scorer, getting ahead of the pack to head home in the box. But the key to the goal is a delicious delivery from Kevin de Bruyne. This could get very, very messy for West Ham.

Rabin: That goal by Raheem, the build-up to it was tikitaka at its best.

Simon Goodall: City's new currency. Sterling Silva. What a goal.

Matt O'Connell: Do you think West Hams shirt sponsors will let them cash out now?

James Collins does a sterling job for his side with a block to Nolito's angled shot. If it carries on like this, every Hammers defender will be black and blue from chucking themselves in front of well-struck efforts.

City have started superbly but Pep Guardiola is still not happy. He stands on the sidelines, directing his orchestra like a psychopathic conductor. His team haven't played a bum note yet, though.

It was a good bit of play from Willy Cabellero, sliding the ball up the line to Kevin de Buryne, who nicked it past Arthur Masuaku. But it's a bit harsh. I don't think it's a yellow card.

Mark Noble has had a poor start to the game. He's the captain and should be calming everybody down for West Ham.

I don't think Man City need two holding midfield players at home.

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

West Ham win their first corner. They waste it though and City clear at the near post.

City break but Kevin de Bruyne is body-checked by Arthur Masuaku, who gets a booking for his nefarious efforts.

Johnny Magrinho: Why haven't Liverpool approached Joe Hart? At least 8 teams in the Prem have better keepers. Should be an absolute no-brainer.

Blue and Amber Fanzine: Time for Joe to return to his hometown club for a second stint between the posts?

That's Shrewsbury for those who didn't know

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Raheem Sterling is just beaten to a through-ball by West Ham keeper Adrian. Sterling looks up for this. More like the road runner who came to prominence at Liverpool but disappeared last year. It is good to see, for both City and England.

Nick Bruzon: This has the feel of 'brackets' ...7(seven). Even the father-in-law, who doesn't watch football, has called it embarrassing.

John Dunthorne: City look to be running HOT!

Dan Bell: Sterling suddenly looks like good player.

I said the goal would come from the wide areas. Great strength from David Silva, Antonio is sucked towards the ball, Nolito has the cleverness to pull the ball back for Raheem Sterling, who lets it run across his body and finishes it well.

Fantastic goal and fantastic start for City. City good, West Ham shocking.

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Almost all of West Ham's touches of the ball so far have been to hammer the ball desperately clear of their own area.

They have a chance to attack, though, through young forward Ashley Fletcher, who carries the ball into the box down the left before slicing a shot high and wide. Well, it's something.

    Raheem Sterling

This was coming from the very first whistle. It is a lovely move, begun by David Silva, who carries the ball to the edge of the box before feeding in Nolito round the back down the left. His pull-back is finished by Raheem Sterling. His first goal of the season. Butter, meet hot knife.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 6 mins

    Man City 0-0 West Ham

Fernandinho was never getting that ball. He slides in late and sends Enner Valencia spinning to the turf. A deserved yellow is the result.

It is all City. David Silva the latest to have a pop - a dipping effort from range that flies across goal and past the post.

Two corners in as many minutes for the home side. David Silva's delivery is poor and the ball is hammered clear by a Hammers man at the near post. No respite for West Ham, though, as City come again and Sergio Aguero goes close with a low shot past the post from 20 yards. West Ham must really hate the Argentine - he loves a goal against them.

I think there will be some fascinating battles this afternoon. West Ham are playing three centre-backs so I think City will get the ball wide a lot to Nolito and Raheem Sterling.

City will have all the possession and push West Ham back, which is dangerous for West Ham.

    Man City 0-0 West Ham

You may remember (West Ham fans definitely do) that the Hammers won 2-1 here last season. Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho with the goals. They'd snap your whole arm off for that today.

First corner to City. Nicolas Otamendi heads it over the bar.

    Guy Mowbray
BBC Match of the Day commentator

To misquote Monty Python - what have the Romanians ever done for us?

Well, Steaua Bucharest have given Manchester City two nice easy training games to hone their playing style under Pep Guardiola.

Wednesday's 1-0 win was achieved with ease. It was practically an impromptu testimonial match for Joe Hart.

A day later it was a very different story, as Astra made West Ham's star fall with a win at the London Stadium that did for the Hammers' European hopes. Slaven Bilic was right to be "angry and frustrated".

With some big players out and less time to prepare, it would be an even bigger surprise than last year's first win at City in 11 visits if his team does it again.
