Arsenal are pushing more men forward, and leaving gaps at the back. Dusan Tadic should do far better here as he breaks forward, and tries to find Nathan Redmond in space and steaming down the right... but his pass is poor.

Arsenal's new striker Lucas Perez is still yet to have a shot in English football. He has a sight of goal on the right of the area, but elects to chip in a cross, which is easily cleared.

Arsenal look more threatening this time as Theo Walcott breaks forward down the right but Mesut Ozil takes a heavy touch on the edge of the area and that is the end of that attack.

At the other end, Shane Long has a pop from a long way out, but it is comfortable for Petr Cech.

Arsenal have a corner, and they want another one after Theo Walcott meets it at the near post but thinks his header takes a touch as it flies wide.

Goal-kick is the decision, but Fraser Forster ends up being shown a yellow card by referee Robert Madley for taking too long over it.

It's too slow from Arsenal, who are constantly playing the ball inside and with very little purpose. There's not enough movement off the ball either, which is usually one of Arsenal's trademarks. 

As a result, Southampton have been able to contain the Gunners.

Arsenal's new defender Shkodran Mustafi is seeing plenty of the ball - he has made 68 touches so far, more than any other player on the pitch, as his side keep playing those pretty passing patterns.

More patient passing from Arsenal. Saints have everyone back behind the ball. No chances from either side to speak of so far since the restart.

It is raining heavily again at the Emirates Stadium. Saints, who have brought on Shane Long for Jay Rodriguez at half-time, get the second half started.

We are into stoppage time at the end of the first half. There will be two minutes of it.

Saints clear their lines after a corner, then cross from Arsenal but they are not exactly under the cosh. The Gunners are still patiently probing but there is not much to get the blood pumping.

Five minutes of the first half to go. The tempo has dropped a bit so I've got time to tell you that Arsenal's Santi Cazorla picked up a booking a few minutes ago for back-chatting to the referee.

We've not seen much of Saints going forward recently. They are relying heavily on balls up to Nathan Redmond to alleviate the pressure, but he is isolated and is not much of a threat on his own.

Another sniff for the Gunners. Hector Bellerin's cross from the right comes to Mesut Ozil on the edge of the area, but his shot is blocked.

Arsenal have upped the tempo here, and Saints suddenly look stretched.

That is a spectacular equaliser, the first time Arsenal have had a shot on target! There was a Southampton defender on the line but a great finish from Laurent Koscielny. A spectacular overhead kick.
