Arsenal threaten at last, with their first effort at goal after 25 minutes. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wins a free-kick by the left-hand corner flag, Santi Cazorla whips it in and Theo Walcott heads over at the near post. It wasn't particularly close, but it is the best yet from the Gunners.

This has been very lethargic from Arsenal and they have not improved since going behind. Saints are shading possession, with 53%, as well as having the lead.

Danger for Arsenal here as Nathan Redmond picks up the ball on the edge of the area. Hector Bellerin lunges in with a desperate challenge to try to cover, and gives away the free-kick. He gets a booking too.

Here's a move that sums up the first 15 minutes for Arsenal. They move the ball around patiently before finding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the left. He looks up, and bends a cross straight out of play.

All very low-key from Arsenal so far. Saints continue to show more urgency when they attack.

Southampton are looking to capitalise on an Arsenal side who look a little asleep. 

Saints look a little bit quicker all around the field - when they are in possession they are composed and always looking to create opportunities. It's a bright start by the away side.

Hmmm, I'm not sure the high ball into the box will work for Arsenal today, with Lucas Perez up front. He is no Olivier Giroud, if you know what I mean. Saints look comfortable at the back so far - Arsenal are passing the ball sideways nicely enough but threaten a lot less when they play it forwards.

Saints look most dangerous when they break, especially when Dusan Tadic is on the ball, but they are also struggling to find any fluency with their passing when they come forward. The rain is getting heavier again, which probably doesn't help.

Arsenal keep on giving the ball away in their own half, and are not making much impression when they come forward either. No massive cause for alarm just yet, obviously, but definitely room for improvement.

New Gunners defender Shkodran Mustafi has shown a couple of tidy touches, and won one routine header but also almost gave the ball away in his own half. Looks like he will fit in nicely then...

Saints have come forward down the left a couple of times already, and this time play a crossfield ball that finds Dusan Tadic charging into the area to get on the end of it. The flag is up for offside however, so that's the end of that.
