It is absolutely tipping down at Emirates Stadium. The players are in the tunnel - they might be best off staying there for a while.

We will wait and see whether Arsenal's new signings can make a real difference.

Perez is a bit like Vardy, a striker who likes to get behind the defence. Mustafi, as a central defender, was an essential signing.

A lot of Arsenal fans have an ongoing problem with Arsene Wenger, who has made some significant signings late in the day. The jury is still out on the Gunners' best XI.

We asked supporters of Premier League and Scottish Premiership clubs to use BBC Sport's team selector to tell us whether they were satisfied with their squad, via a simple tick or cross for each position.

    The results are in.

Arsenal fans rated five positions at above 90%, but had concerns over two - left-back and centre forward.

Southampton's keeper got a 96% approval rating, but up front it was 60% and 42%,

Arsene Wenger has said that he now has a team of men, not potential.

But what stands out from that is that if he knew he didn't have enough experience in the side why didn't he sort that out five years ago?

Yes they have more maturity now. Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott have grown into men who should be winning things.

    Lawro's prediction

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

What does Lawro think will happen today then? Here's his verdict:

"Arsenal brushed aside Watford in their last game, with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez both impressing, and I can see a similar outcome here.

"It is early days but Southampton have stumbled a bit so far - with their only points coming in two draws at home - and the signs are they are in for a tougher season this time around."

    Lawro's score: 3-0

Two draws and a defeat for Southampton boss Claude Puel so far. Will his first win in English football arrive today? It's a tough ask... Saints fans have been waiting a lot longer to win a league game at Arsenal... almost 29 years to be exact.

The signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez should ease some of the pressure on Arsene Wenger.

Mustafi has been earmarked to partner Laurent Koscielny at centre-back, but it's not so clear whether Perez's future lies at centre-forward or on the flank.

Southampton have not got off to the best of starts under Claude Puel. They will be expecting a lot from Nathan Redmond and fellow summer signing Sofiane Boufal, although the latter arrives short of full fitness.

With the top three off to perfect starts and already looking impressive, Arsenal need to put together a winning run just to stay in contention.

They cannot afford to drop points at home - even against a Southampton side that has finished seventh and sixth in the last two seasons.

Afternoon all. This is our first chance to see Arsenal's late-summer signings, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez, in action for Arsene Wenger's side. Both start. What difference will the £52m duo make?

No chance to ask the same question about any Southampton today, though. Sofiane Boufal, who joined from Lille for a club-record fee just before the transfer window closed, is still recovering from a long-term knee injury.
