Simone Zaza is crowded out inside the penalty area and just throws himself to the ground, sandwiched between Cedric Soares and Jose Fonte. Never been a penalty. Game in a lull.

N Gallagher: Surely Spurs have the dream ticket coming? State of the art 61,500, same site, biggest kop stand in Europe, close to pitch.
Fraikothunder: White Hart Lane has a good atmosphere and will be a shame when it's gone.
Cardiff True Blues: Ibrox is sublime. Packed by 50k Rangers fans every game, steeped in history, trophies and memories. Oh, plus its Uefa five star rated.

Sammy Lee, England manager Sam Allardyce's assistant, is here watching. I wonder if he's brought binoculars with him?
West Ham 0-0 Southampton
There's a decent tempo to the opening exchanges as Michail Antonio plays a one-two on the edge of the area and stabs a shot wide. England assistant Sammy Lee watches on.

Romeu has clattered Lanzini there and the referee was completely right to book him. If it's a bad tackle it's a bad tackle irrespective of the number of minutes gone in the game.
West Ham 0-0 Southampton
Charlie Austin starts a Saints move with a cracking ball down the line to Ryan Bertrand, he pulls a cross behind Dusan Tadic to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on the edge of the area and his powerful shot is well charged down by Angelo Ogbonna.
Moments later Manuel Lanzini is chopped down by Oriol Romeu, who becomes the first name in the book.

Jack Grummitt-Carel: Business people forget stadiums are homes. They sweat history & memories. New homes need soul. Instead they're clinical & cold.
Chris Jones: Craven Cottage for the best ground, both inside and out (including the walk through the park).
Aston Radford: Villa Park has the best of both worlds, great up to date facilities, unrestricted viewing, plus it's close to the pitch.
West Ham 0-0 Southampton
I have yet to go to a game at the London Stadium so can't comment for sure but in these early stages there is plenty of noise being developed. The Hammers start a neat attack with a Simone Zaza header but Manuel Lanzini hangs on to it too long.

Heinrich in Liverpool: Our club Cologne downsized from a 60.000 capacity running track multifunction arena to 50.000 subbuteo style. Has worked wonders regarding atmosphere and watching the game. With plenty of safe standing areas, the atmosphere at an average game is better than any game I watched on the blue or red part of Merseyside bar derbies or European matches.
Andy: Hull's old Boothferry Park ground got demolished and is now a housing estate, two of my brothers live on there.
Pete in Stoke: The Brit/365 is WAY better than the old Victoria Ground.
West Ham 0-0 Southampton
The first shot of the day comes from Italy forward Simone Zaza, chesting the ball down some 30 yards from goal and hitting a left-footed shot well wide. Was never convincing in his approach to that.
West Ham 0-0 Southampton
So former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa is playing at left-back for West Ham today with Havard Nordtveit at right-back. He's played in central midfield this season so far. Southampton may target the flanks.
West Ham 0-0 Southampton
It's a colossal arena, looks full to the rafters to me as we get under way at London Stadium.
Manchester City have dominated women's football this season and they are champions for the first time.

For Southampton losing Sadio Mane, Victor Wanyama and Graziano Pelle was big. it becomes tough to replace that sort of quality. However I must say Southampton have used Nathan Redmond well so far. He's player who can develop a lot. He can be a bit greedy and predictable.
I'm also a big fan of Fraser Forster. He's an outstanding goalkeeper and I've been impressed by Virgil van Dijk since he joined. You sense those three are key for Southampton now.

Southampton: Forster, Cedric, Bertrand, Romeu, Fonte, van Dijk, Hojbjerg, Tadic, Redmond, Austin, Davis. Subs: Yoshida, Clasie, Long, McCarthy, Martina, Ward-Prowse, Hesketh.

That's quite a claim Ed. But not one I'm going to argue with.
So an AFC Fylde fan, and possibly Hull, are the only ones who prefer their new stadium to old. You tend to romanticise and old stadium though don't you. Even when the facilities were horrendous.

I have a couple of reservations over Adrian in the West Ham goal. I'd have gone for Darren Randolph personally. Also the chopping and changing in defence hasn't helped them. I was surprised they let James Tomkins leave for Crystal Palace. Last season he was one of the key defenders for West Ham. Why sell him?
