Can Hibs find a goal in the second half? They will need to be a bit more bold in possession and some better set-pieces would certainly help.

  2. Aberdeen set for Slovenia datepublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

FT: Ventspils 0-1 Aberdeen (agg: 0-4)

The Dons will meet Maribor in the next round of Europa League qualifying.

The Slovenians came from behind to draw at Levski Sofia and, with a 1-1 aggregate score, go through on away goals.

That's a tricky tie. As I said earlier, Maribor boast a good record against Scottish sides, taking the scalps of Celtic, Hibs and Rangers in recent years.

  3. 'Hearts in strong position'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

    Hearts v Birkirkara (20:00)

    Richard Wilson
    BBC Scotland at Tynecastle

"Hearts are trusting in the creative guile and shrewd movement of Jamie Walker as they seek the goals to knock out Birkirkar. The attacker is playing just off the centre-forward Conor Sammon, and that augers well for the home side since he has been involved in all but one of their six goals in Europe this season.

"The 0-0 scoreline from the first leg puts Hearts in a strong position, but their team reflects the need to be defensively sound as well as assertive in attack. Progress will be the reward for a bold and confident display."

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian (agg; 1-0)

Hibs are well organised and grafting hard. Neil Lennon's side have kept Brondby at bay but have yet to create anything in front of goal.

Brian Calvin, Linlithgow: Hibs doing okay. Not threatening, but only need one chance to take it to extra-time. The main thing is Brondby are not hurting them.

Joe Berry, Edinburgh: Referee here is doing Hibs no favours whatsoever. Been horrendous.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

As half-time approaches, Hibs are hanging on a bit. The visitors are being pinned back, with strikers Grant Holt and Jason Cummings isolated at the other end of the pitch.

Remember, Hibs need a goal or the European adventure is over.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

Just as I say that, Ross Laidlaw is called into action, tipping over a powerful long-range shot from Norgaard. The ball was swerving around quite a bit, so that goes down as a good save.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs are finding it tricky to retain possession against very athletic opponents but they have done a good job of protecting inexperienced keeper Ross Laidlaw.

The 24-year-old didn't play at all last season as he recovered from a very painful sounding lacerated kidney.

FT: Ventspils 0-1 Aberdeen (agg: 0-4)

Attention Aberdeen fans, Maribor are level at 1-1 at Levski Sofia. At this rate, the Slovenians are going through on away goals.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

Brondby playmaker Phiri finds room for a shot on the edge of the Hibs box and takes aim for the top corner, only to lift it a yard or two too high.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

A third corner for Hibs and it's another stinker. This time the ball is worked short to Lewis Stevenson and then simply lofted into the goalkeeper's arms.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

"There is no real flow to the match, with free-kick after free-kick," says BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson. "That probably suits Hibs more because Brondby are pretty slick in the final third."

    Hearts v Birkirkara (20:00)

Hearts: Hamilton, L.Smith, Ozturk, Rossi, Rherras, Paterson, Buaben, Djoum, Nicholson, Walker, Sammon.

Substitutes: Noring, Souttar, Godinho, Cowie, Zanatta, Muirhead, Juanma.

One change for Hearts. Sam Nicholson replacing the injured Perry Kitchen.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

Grant Holt is getting some rough treatment from the Brondby defence as he is clattered for the third time this evening. The former Norwich striker is 35 now and his old bones will be aching on the plane home at this rate.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

A second corner for Hibs but the delivery from Lewis Stevenson is poor, failing to beat the man guarding the front post. The left-back gets another bite at the cherry but his next cross is not much better.

  16. Hearts expect stubborn Birkirkarapublished at 19:16 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

    Hearts v Birkirkara (20:00)

This time last week, Hearts were sweltering in a hot Maltese evening. It's been a lovely day for most of Scotland but I don't think water breaks will be required at Tynecastle.

The Jambos are level at 0-0 after the first leg but that can be a dangerous score, with Birkirkara expected to sit in and hit on the break.

"These teams are used to sitting in and just grinding it out and making things very difficult," said head coach Robbie Neilson yesterday. "It's part of football, we have to try to break them down."

A free kick on the edge of the Hibs penalty box after a tug from Marvin Bartley and Johan Larsson dips it onto the roof of the net. Not too far away...

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

Both sides are snapping into beefy challenges in a congested midfield.

Now Brondby have a corner and Hibs deal with it eventually - after a spot of head tennis. A second corner follows and it's nodded off target by Wilczek, last week's goalscorer.

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs win their first corner of the evening. Dylan McGeough's delivery finds Paul Hanlon lurking at the edge of the penalty area but the defender's header is cleared away without too much fuss. There are a lot of big lads in this Brondby team.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

    Brondby 0-0 Hibernian

Just as they did last week at Easter Road, Brondby load players on the right hand side from kick off and launch it long towards Hibs left-back Lewis Stevenson. The difference this time is that they don't score...
