I thought it was going to nestle in the bottom corner, it is six inches wide from Wayne Rooney. He bent it round the defender but misses by an absolute fraction.

England actually having more of the ball now as Jesse Lingard finds Daniel Sturridge inside the area and he gets a shot away.

Then Wayne Rooney curls one in from 18 yards - wide!

It has not been great at all from England, they have given the ball away too often and made simple errors.

They almost gifted Slovenia two goals through sloppy back passes.

The away fans are singing Wayne Rooney's name. The captain is warming up. 

Another England backpass, another howler, another Joe Hart rescue job!

Jordan Henderson this time gifts Slovenia a chance, it's Jasmin Kurtic clean through, especially as Gary Cahill lunges in wildly. But that man Hart makes another very good save indeed. 

Mattia Stefanelli has equalised for San Marino against Norway and it is currently 1-1 in Oslo.

Can Scotland rescue this? The ball sits up nicely for Barry Bannan to have a dip but his shot from the edge of the box is right down the keeper's throat.

Slovenia 0-0 England

A break in play as Slovenia skipper Bostjan Cesar needs some treatment. England have 25 minutes to go, to hang on if truth be told. 

Miha Mevlja comes on to replace Cesar, who has to be carried off on a stretcher. 

Wave after wave of Germany attacks, with Manchester City man Ilkay Gundogan the latest to flash a shot across goal. But Northern Ireland have been diligent in the extreme. They could have capitulated after those two quick goals. 

There are twenty-five minutes left.
