  2. 'A frustrating half'published at 20:44 British Summer Time 11 October 2016

    Slovakia 1-0 Scotland

    Rob Maclean
    BBC Scotland

A frustrating first half for Scotland. Bags of the ball but not enough chances to score. Slovakia happy for long stretches to give Scotland possession and display their superior cutting edge on the counter-attack. We needed a great save from David Marshall to stop Robert Mak making it a double.

CelebCelery: What a waste of a career Theo Walcott has been - 27 now. Who to blame? Wenger or Walcott himself?

Darren W: We used to moan that Gerrard & Lampard can't play together. If only we were still having those arguments now..

Tommy Misz: A half that epitomises English football. 65% possession, 0 shots on target, seen it all before

It has not been easy for England, they have been put under pressure. Goalkeeper Joe Hart has not had a lot to do.

England have not been magnificent going forward but Slovenia have worked very hard, playing at a very high tempo.

Gareth Southgate has decisions to make, is he bold and brave? Will he make some changes?

There are positives though, this is a young side. Slovenia are more experienced and we knew this was going to be a problem. England have got lucky with Slovenia hitting the post.

Matt: This is the most dismal half of football I've seen for a while. England look like they have no plan.

There could be plenty of competition for that title in recent years Matt.

Alex Robertson: Marshall seems to be our best player at the moment. That's slightly worrying seeing as we're 1-0 down.

James Wallace: Good of Scotland to put us out of our misery early in the campaign instead of the usual glorious failure.

Robert Mak lets fly with a wonderful shot from the edge of the box to force a diving save from David Marshall.

From the resulting corner Jan Durica shoots from point blank range but again Marshall is equal to it.

The Hull keeper is keeping his Scotland side in this at the moment.
