Joe Hart has done magnificently well to make that initial save but after that England were panicking in defence.

Eric Dier played the ball back blindly, but Hart is not too bad as a sweeper-keeper is he?

England should be behind really. What a clanger from Eric Dier, playing a blind backpass from the halfway line to send a Slovenia attacker in on goal. Joe Hart is stationed superbly though to shut him out on the edge of the box, but the ball is worked back out to Jasmin Kurtic, and he rattles the post from 18 yards!

After that there is a very sharp rebound chance but that comes to nothing.

No chances to report yet though, as Hearts right-back Callum Paterson is clattered by a naughty, late tackle.

I felt quietly confident about the Lithuania game. My mood has darkened ahead of this one. If Scotland don't win, can we possibly qualify from a position of 4 or 5 points from the first three matches? I can't see it.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that. But the performance in Slovakia needs to be a whole lot livelier and more inventive than it was at Hampden three nights ago. It was must-win then and it's become must-win now.

First signs of danger for England as John Stones tries to pass the ball out from inside his own six-yard box to captain Jordan Henderson, he has his pocket picked and Gary Cahill has to scramble over and clear his lines. Decent tempo to the game.

Gareth Southgate wants England to play quickly and Dele Alli was superb in that last move, a lovely 360 degree pirouette. 

Slovenia are working very hard, their formation is flexible, when they have not got the ball, they are 4-1-4-1 and when they do have it, they go to 4-3-3, the two wide players pushing forward.

First chance of the night for Germany sees Michael McGovern pick up where he left off in the Euros, denying Mario Gotze with a fine save. Gotze had a free header six yards out though. Should score.
