  1. 'Awkward height for Keane'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Lithuania 0-0 England

    Danny Mills
Ex-Man City and England defender on Radio 5 live sports extra

It is a real mix up in the Lithuania defence. It bounced at an awkward height for Keane and he had to wait to make contact. He was under pressure when he hit it.

  2. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    Lithuania 0-0 England

How long until we as a nation can learn to spell Jack Wilshere's name correctly? He made his debut for Arsenal nine years ago and still 80% of tweets call him Jack Wiltshire, or Wilshire.

While I go off piste, England go close! Michael Keane reacts well to a half-cleared set-piece and hits a powerful shot a yard wide under pressure. Decent connection.

Luke: I swear Henderson just goes for a passing accuracy stat. Always sideways or backwards 5 yards. He slows everything down!

Tom: I would really like to see Jack Wilshere in this formation I think he could be the key link with the front three.

Alex: Winks has already done more in 15 minutes than Henderson has in the previous nine qualifiers. Great young talent.

  4. As is standspublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

As it stands Scotland would qualify for the play-offs - because Slovakia are not beating Malta. Yet.

It's been taken as a given that they will, so Scotland really need to win.

    Lithuania 0-0 England

Not much to report - plenty of England possession in the middle third with no impact at the top end of the pitch.

  6. Robertson's dangerous ballspublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

Andy Robertson will continue to keep going forward. That is already the five or sixth time he has gone down that left-hand side and put in some dangerous balls.

It looked as if Scotland were getting overrun in the opening passages but it's been a lot more even since.

    Lithuania 0-0 England

    Gary Flintoff
    BBC Radio 5 live reporter

The England and Lithaunia fans are singing in the rain here in Vilnius. Both sides started brightly, but the match feels a bit like a training exercise at the moment. Hardly surprising considering it is being played on what could be an artificial training pitch.

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

Decent start from Scotland. They work the ball neatly on the edge of the area and free Chris Martin inside, he turns and hits an early shot but it's easy for Jan Oblak to pouch.

  9. 'Keep nudging me to make sure I'm awake'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Lithuania 0-0 England

    Danny Mills
Ex-Man City and England defender on Radio 5 live sports extra

Just keep digging me in the ribs to make sure I am still awake. There is nothing to say about the game. It is sideways passes, slow, no pace. Look at the movement. There are no players making sharp, incisive runs. The Lithuania players are not being asked any questions whatsoever.

  10. 'Not like Griffiths'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

It is in a dangerous place. If Andy Robertson gets down that left-hand side, Scotland's forwards just need to make sure they get into those areas.

Leigh Griffiths was a little bit slow on his heels and that's not like him.

A dangerous cross from the Scottish left skips right across the goalmouth and almost causes a problem for Jan Oblak in the Slovenian net, but he's a top class keeper and watches it by.

  12. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Lithuania 0-0 England

It is an artificial surface, but considering how much rain has fallen I think that's a good thing tonight. There haven't been any problems that I can see so far.

It's early days but England may well find a future in this shape.

Zack Rynhold: Winks already showing he will be better than Henderson.

Rory: Can't believe the lack of attacking central midfielders we have. Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes seem 20 years ago!

Louis: Why are we risking playing Kane? Especially on this surface, recipe for disaster.

  14. 'Referee has been soft'published at 14 mins

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

Two players were shoving Leigh Griffiths but neither were going for the ball.

I think the referee has been soft on their centre-backs so far. A couple of players have taken hits from behind and he hasn't given free-kicks.

There is a bit of needle here and that may well suit Scotland.

Scuffle! Leigh Griffiths tries to keep the ball in, he's shepherded out of play by two Slovenian defenders and there's a bit of pushing and shoving off the ball. A crowd scene around the ref, who handles it well. No cards.

  16. Complacent Englandpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Lithuania 0-0 England

    Danny Mills
Ex-Man City and England defender on Radio 5 live sports extra

It is complacency. John Stones cannot allow the player to get across him. You have to move towards the ball and be proactive. It doesn't matter how much better than the opponent you think you are. You have to go out and prove it.

  17. CLOSE!published at 11 mins

    Lithuania 0-0 England

And now it's almost the opener, but for Lithuania! A cross from the left is whipped in, Harry Maguire loses his footing, remember it's soaking wet out there, and Darvydas Semas meets the ball with an improvised backheeled volley which skids into the side-netting! Close!

  18. 'Scotland will have to work hard'published at 17:11

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

Scotland will have to really work hard to get on the ball but remember they have those two players up front.

They can look to break on the counter.

A lively. open start as Scotland break well to win a corner but again it's well defended. If Scotland can get their noses ahead it will be interesting...

Sam Pougher: It's really good to see young England debuts today. Hopefully they'll be able to show their worth and make the team great again.

Matt Hunt: It's already more exciting than Thursday night.
