  1. Denmark take the leadpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

Denmark have given themselves a glimpse of hope as they have a slim 1-0 lead over Romania.

Guess who scored? Christian Eriksen of course.

The Tottenham midfielder converted from the penalty spot but Denmark will only qualify for the World Cup if Poland lose their game.

At the moment, Poland are leading Montenegro 2-0.

  2. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 62 mins

    Slovenia 1-1 Scotland

Scotland have had a ropey 10 minutes but here's a good break with Ikechi Anya shooting straight at Jan Oblak.

But that's a decent penalty appeal at the other end as Kieran Tierny tackles from the wrong side! Nothing given.

These are worrying times for Scotland. I think the fans can feel that now as they are starting to sing their favourite songs.

The players need that right now.

Norway v Northern Ireland (19:45 BST)

Scotland drawing also means that Northern Ireland would be guaranteed a play-off place before they even kick-off. If it stays like this.

  6. 'Too easy'published at 18:13 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Lithuania 0-1 England

    Danny Mills
Ex-Man City and England defender on Radio 5 live sports extra

Great save. Great reactions from Jack Butland. But it was far too easy. A man got sucked out and the ball in was a good one. Michael Keane was completely unaware where his man was and is extremely lucky not to score an own goal.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 55 mins

    Slovenia 1-1 Scotland

Like a boxer caught flush on the chin, Scotland are wobbling now and possibly heading for a knockout. Craig Gordon has to react well to save from sub Roman Bezjak again, before Josip Ilicic goes close on the follow-up.

Ikechi Anya has come on for the Scots, who need to win tonight.

  8. As it standspublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    England will win the group.

Slovakia will finish second and reach the play-offs.

Scotland will finish third (on goal difference).

Although England have enjoyed far more possession, Lithuania have had their moments in this match. Having said that, the best news for both sets of fans this evening is the astonishing development it has stopped raining.

    Lithuania 0-1 England

Back in Vilnius, Harry Winks has a decent effort well saved, before at the other end Jack Butland makes a good save to stop a Michael Keane OG! Had to get down, and did so well.

  11. 'Very, very soft free-kick'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Slovenia 1-1 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

It was a very, very soft free-kick. It's a hard one for Scotland to take. The quality of the ball was absolutely magnificent.

Gordon Strachan's substitute was going to be made at 1-0. Would he have made the same substitution knowing it would be 1-1?

    Roman Bezjak

Well that's a massive blow for Scotland. Substitute Roman Bezjak heads home an inticing free-kick from deep and that means that Scotland are heading OUT as it stands...

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 51 mins

    Slovenia 0-1 Scotland

Ooh he got hold of that one! Slovenia's Rajko Rotman hits a swerving piledriver from 30-odd yards, loads of movement on it and Craig Gordon has to punch it away!

I thought Barry Bannan had a superb game the other night and just about everything he has done tonight has been perfect.

    Lithuania 0-1 England

Shoddy start to the half for England as Jordan Henderson overhits a cross from the right. He only had Harry Kane in the middle to aim at mind. At the other end Fiodor Cemych shoots speculatively over the top.

Scotland's cause may be helped by the fact that Slovenia have nothing to play for. But nobody likes being beaten at home.

Chris Knaggs: It's hard to be an optimistic England fan but I'm willing to give it a try.

Mohamed: Watching England is like watching paint dry.

    Slovenia 0-1 Scotland

    Pat Nevin

Leigh Griffiths got a bit of a knock and limped off just before half-time but he's just done a little sprint then and looked very sharp.

    That's encouraging.

Away we go in Ljubljana too. Do Scotland shut up shop and protect that lead at all costs or do they look for a second?Reminder - a Scotland win sends them into the play-offs.
