    A real let-off.

There's only a few hundred Manchester City fans in the stadium, according to reports, so not enough to make a din if they were booing the Champions League anthem as they like to do.

  12. 'This is a final for us'published at 19:35 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola tells BT Sport: "At the end, it is good news to be here and we will try to deserve it. It will depend on our performance if we play in the Champions League.

"We cannot play the season with the same 11 and they all deserve to play, that is why Bacary Sagna came out, he had some muscular problem. I need to see all the players.

"We would like to play good, follow the level we showed against Sunderland, and keep going. Every game can help us to improve but now this is a final for us and next Wednesday too."

  13. Guardiola's almost stuttering startpublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

Manchester City needed some luck to beat Sunderland 2-1 in Pep Guardiola's first competitive game in charge.

A late Paddy McNair own goal clinched it for City after Jermain Defoe had cancelled out Sergio Aguero's early penalty.

And it wouldn't be Guardiola without some big tactical tweak. Full-backs Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna (both on the bench today) were almost playing in midfield at times. Below is their combined touch map from the game.

They have won their opening three Romanian league games, won a domestic cup match and knocked Sparta Prague out, 3-1 on aggregate, in the third qualifying round.

Nicolae Stanciu scored all three goals for Steaua in that tie.
