One of the major positives for Aberdeen tonight was the link-up play between the forward pair. Adam Rooney Jayden Stockley were a handful for the Maribor defence all night and there seemed to be a real understanding between them. A promising sign for Derek McInnes, who will surely be tempted to pitch them both in again in next Thursday's return leg in Slovenia.

"It was a powerful performance. Derek McInnes will be a little disappointed that they didn't take some of the chances they created. They were the better team. I think they'll still be confident they can win this tie."

Finally a chance to pause for breath!

Mixed emotions for the Aberdeen fans at the full-time whistle. They've witnessed an excellent display from their side but a score draw gives Maribor the advantage in the tie.

The Dons were on top for large spells but fell behind seven minutes from time to Milivoje Novakovic's goal. Derek McInnes' side stormed back though, with Johnny Hayes grabbing a deserved leveller two minutes from the end.

So level at 1-1 going into next Thursday's second leg. Advantage Maribor, but if Aberdeen play like that again they will have every chance of getting the result they need.

Aberdeen's last chance may have gone as Niall McGinn's cross into the box is too close to the keeper and is easily gathered by Handanovic.

Ash Taylor has been playing as a temporary striker in these last few minutes and has caused aerial problems for the visitors. Aberdeen pushing hard for a winner.

A gorgeous reverse pass from Niall McGinn slices open the Maribor defence, Adam Rooney gets on the end of it and chips the keeper to put the ball into the net, but the celebrations are cut short as the offside flag is raised against the striker.

Just over 10 minutes remaining and Aberdeen are well on top, but can they find that crucial goal to give them a lead to take to Slovenia next week for the second leg?

Kenny McLean makes his presence felt immediately. A short corner between McGinn and Hayes is well-worked but the cross is cleared. McLean takes on the strike from 20 yards and makes a sweet connection but the ball rises a foot or two over the intended target of Jasmin Handanovic's top left hand corner.

Derek McInnes looks to shake things up with a double substitution. Jayden Stockley and Graeme Shinnie make way for Kenny McLean and Wes Burns.
