A healthy crowd of 17, 105 this evening, with the overwhelming majority of them desperate to see Aberdeen break the deadlock at Pittoddrie.

Johnny Hayes loses possession in the middle of the park and Ash Taylor has to stretch to his limit to intercept a through ball and divert the ball back to his keeper. That was a dangerous moment for the home side.

Hayes goes into the referee's book for a late tackle on Tavares.

The Dons are ramping up the pressure now. Andrew Considine's cross from the left flank is a beauty but Adam Rooney just can't get on the end of it with an attempted diving header.

Moments later Ryan Jack just can't turn his header from 8 yards out towards goal. 

Derek McInnes will want a goal in this period of pressure.

Jayden Stockley and Adam Rooney link up well to put Rooney in on Jasmin Handanovic but the keeper gets out quickly to smother the striker's effort.

Marwan Kabha missed a gilt-edged chance earlier and now finds his way into the referee's book.

It's been a pretty breathless opening quarter to the match, but the play has settled down somewhat. Both sides may be slightly disappointed not to be ahead but also relieved not to have conceded.

What a let-off for Aberdeen! The Dons are sliced open down the Maribor right, the ball is put on a plate for Marwan Kabha but he balloons his effort from eight yards over the bar. Dreadful miss.

Free-kick in a promising position, 25 yards out in the centre of the goal but Niall McGinn's set-piece comes back off the wall. 

A cross from wide on the right looks for Rooney in the box. He goes down and feels he was tugged back but the referee does not concur.

A mistake in the Maribor defence allows Adam Rooney a clear sight of goal, but he doesn't quite set himself and his finish is weak. Big chance.

After a good start suddenly Aberdeen are on the back foot. Marwan Kabha embarks on a mazy run, weaving through the Aberdeen defence. The ball eventually breaks to Marcos Tavares at the edge of the box but Ash Taylor does well to block his shot.

A really positive start from Derek McInnes' men. Graeme Shinnie crosses to the back post for Niall McGinn whose side-footed volley is just too high. 

Shay Logan hoists a free-kick into the penalty box, Ash Taylor heads it down towards Adam Rooney whose effort is almost turned home by Jayden Stockley. Good start from the Dons.

Just one lonely Maribor fan with the whole of the away section of the South Stand to himself while the Red Army have turned up in good numbers to see if their side can take a significant step towards the fourth round.
