An hour gone and Derek McInnes couldn't have asked for much more from his players, they have been excellent against a very decent Maribor side. You feel though they really do need to turn this pressure into goals.

Ryan Jack wins possession on the middle of the park and Aberdeen spring into attack. Rooney's cross from deep on the right comes all the way through to Jayden Stockley who cuts in on his right foot but Jasmin Handanovic palms his near post effort away from goal.

Dare Vrsic has been revitalised by his half-time oranges. The Maribor midfielder has been lively after the break. He takes possession and has a crack from fully 30 yards, but Dons keeper Joe Lewis is able to gather comfortably.

Dare Vrsic throws in a few lollipops as he runs at Andrew Considine, comes inside on the left foot and fires a shot towards the bottom corner which Joe Lewis does superbly to get down to.

Niall McGinn puts in a tantalising cross between the Maribor defence and goalkeeper but there are no takers in red shirts.

And with that comes the half-time whistle. Aberdeen have certainly had the better of it, creating numerous opportunities, but the game's outstanding chance fell to Maribor's Marwan Kabha who blasted over when just eight yards out in front of goal.

Surely got to be a goal in this match.

Adam Rooney looks to get in behind the defence and again takes a tumble in the box but the result again is no penalty. No great appeals from Aberdeen players.

BBC Radio Scotland co-commentator Willie Miller informs us that a wayward Johnny Hayes cross narrowly misses a woman in the crowd carrying a young baby.

"He'll be disappointed with that," says Willie, presumably in reference to the poor quality of the cross rather than narrowly missing the little bundle of joy.

Another worrying moment for Aberdeen as Milivoje Novakovic bears down on goal but rather than pull the trigger he tries to square it for Dino Hotic, allowing Shay Logan to make the interception.
