    Oh no! He should have won it. Joseph Mendes has a golden chance to put Reading through in the final minute of eight added on. He loses his head though, lashing over the crossbar with virtually the last kick of normal time. Another 30 minutes entertainment for those at the Madejski.

    Away from the Premier League teams there appear to have been no shocks as such in the matches that have blown for full-time.

    Norwich eased past Coventry with a 6-1 win at Carrow Road and another Championship side Brighton secured a a 4-2 win at Oxford United.

    Tyler Denton's first goal for Leeds helped them to a 1-0 victory at Luton Town and Lars Veldwijk's 87th minute effort earned Nottingham Forest a 2-1 win over Millwall.

    QPR beat Rochdale 2-1 and Wolves overcame Cambridge by the same scoreline.

    And Ayoze Perez scored twice as Newcastle saw off League Two strugglers Cheltenham Town.

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Blackpool

    Panic over Crystal Palace fans. Christian Benteke was not taken off at half-time because of injury, confirms Alan Pardew.

    "We're through, we've picked up no injuries and we saw a couple of good debuts," says Pards.

    "Christian Benteke showed why we paid a record fee and Steve Mandanda showed why he was Marseille captain.

    "We erred on the side of caution tonight with Christian. He's still getting up to speed."
