Matt VP: Walcott this season is like a new player. Sanchez looking every inch a striker. Defence good. Maybe Wenger knows after all

BtheG: Arsenal might do something great this season!

  2. Champions League latestpublished at 19:59 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

Dmitri Poloz has given Rostov the lead against Dutch outfit PSV with a cool side-foot finish following Aleksandr Erokhin's through-ball. It is the Russian side's first ever goal at home in the Champions League.

I don't think there's anything sophisticated about that. It's a complete mis-hit. There were two players offside, but Fernandinho wasn't one of them. City haven't been in the game at all, but they are level. Can Celtic pick themselves up?

  4. goal

GOAL - Celtic 1-1 Manchester Citypublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Fernandinho (12 mins)

Out of nothing Manchester City are level. Aleskander Kolarov drives the ball low into the box and Fernandinho sticks out a boot to bring it under control before peeling away from the defence and then stroking the ball into the bottom corner.

Celtic keep getting free-kicks and sending them into the box. They think there's a weakness there. They've started so well.

    Celtic 1-0 Manchester City

Almost a quick second for Celtic as a free-kick is sent into the box and the ball eventually falls to ex-City man Kolo Toure, whose shot is palmed over by Claudio Bravo.

City are rocking. The pace that Celtic have started at is incredible. Will they be able to keep it up? I said early on about scoring early and pressing on regardless. They are doing just that.

  7. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Baselpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Theo Walcott (6 mins)

Arsenal have picked right up from where they left off against Chelsea. A fine move opens up the Basel defence as Alexis Sanchez is played onside as he races onto a ball from midfielder. The forward breaks towards the left side of the box before looping the ball into the area and Theo Walcott arrives late to nod in.

    Arsenal 0-0 Basel

Meanwhile in London its a good, positive start by Arsenal as Santi Cazorla charges forward before playing a quick ball to Theo Walcott. The winger tries to knock the ball between two defenders but the gap is swiftly closed down.

Wow. Just wow. The best thing about the goal is that Celtic have started so well, but it's a technical thing done by the manager. They knew Man City were going to keep a high line at the free-kick, try to play offside. That is straight off the training ground.

  10. goal

GOAL - Celtic 1-0 Manchester Citypublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Moussa Dembele (3 mins)

    What a start by Celtic!

Three minutes in and they take the lead as James Forrest crosses from the right, Erik Sviatchenko flicks his head at it and Moussa Dembele gets the final touch to get the ball over the line. He didn't know much about it, and there was certainly a hint of offside about it, but the goal stands and Celtic are ahead.

You hear about the Celtic Way. People sometimes sneer at it. The old physio summed it up when he said "score an early goal and press on regardless". Brendan Rodgers understands that.

    Arsenal v Basel (19:45 BST)

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We are on the same wavelength and physically in a better shape than at the start of the season. Our task is to maintain our levels and improve from game to game.

"Theo Walcott's best position is when he is committed like on Saturday against Chelsea, it does not matter where he plays. It is sometimes important to express the talent of a player. He can play on the flank or up front.

"Our game is about making the right decision - game intelligence. When you have to pass the pass, you pass the ball. When you are young, you don't always make the right decision.

  18. Dangerman Doumbiapublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Arsenal v Basel (19:45 BST)

Seydou Doumbia is not just a very handy player on Fifa (or very annoying if you are facing him), he's pretty good in real life too.

The Ivory Coast forward, who played three games in a short spell at Newcastle last season, has been in lethal form since joining Basel on loan from Roma, bagging six goals in eight appearances.

Basel are old school, playing two strikers and that will give the Gunners' fullbacks plenty to think about. Bomb forward as they like to do and they risk leaving two defenders marking the two strikers and, with Doumbia's pace, that could prove costly.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich take to the field against each other again, five months after the Spanish team edged last year's semi-final between the two on away goals. Both are unbeaten in all competitions this season - with Bayern holding a 100% win record - so something has got to give at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico may also want to get one over on Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti, who managed Real Madrid to victory over their city rivals in the 2014 final.

Elsewhere, French champions Paris Saint-Germain travel to Ludogorets Razgrad while Italian side Napoli host Portuguese side Benfica.

Barca recorded their biggest win in the competition last time out with a 7-0 victory over Celtic.

The Spanish champions will have to do it without Lionel Messi however who is still sidelined with a groin injury.
