Mike Phelan seems a whole lot sunnier than Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte.

The type of guy who would let a young relative have a curious sip of his bitter over a pub lunch and then buy them a knickerbocker glory against their parents' wishes

Just look at his lucky dice novelty tie.

But, by the sound of it, the Tigers hierarchy are messing around the manager.

"One minute I think I've got something and the club are happy with it but the next minute it changes," he told the Hull Daily Mail this week when asked about a new contract.

"It's just a case of thinking about all these new changes that are on the table and coming to a decision."

Arsenal 3-0 Chelsea: Antonio Conte blames 'bad attitude' for defeat

"We are a great team only on paper. From the first minute we did not have the right attitude," Conte said after the Emirates aberration.

He promised to find a solution to the Blues' leaky defence and Branislav Ivanovic - or rather his absence - is that solution.

Ivanovic was seen as something of a favourite of club owner Roman Abramovich. And the Russian billionaire was down at the club's Cobham HQ three times this week for some serious chin-wagging about what needs doing to fix the 2014-15 champions., external

Those arctic-blue eyes. A stare that could wither flowers in full bloom. Words as hard and jagged as flint.

You wouldn't like Antonio Conte when he's angry.

And after Chelsea's 3-0 defeat by Arsenal, he was angry.

You'd expect a few heads to roll after a 5-1 thumping - and that is exactly what has happened for Hull City.

Caretaker manager Mike Phelan makes three changes from the team which started at Liverpool, as striker Dieumerci Mbokani, midfielder Markus Henriksen and makeshift right-back David Meyler all come into the side.

Out go Abel Hernandez, Tom Huddlestone and the suspended Ahmed Elmohamady.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte might also have been tempted to drop several players after their 3-0 beating at Arsenal. Instead he only makes two changes.

Branislav Ivanovic - so long a mainstay in the Blues defence - is dropped for left-back Marcos Alonso, who makes his first start since a £23m move from Fiorentina.

Victor Moses also comes in for a rare start, with Cesc Fabregas making way.
