  1. First semi-final of the seasonpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

Greenock Morton v Aberdeen (12:15 BST)

A cup semi-final in October? Yes, yes, yes! It's the Scottish League Cup semi-finals and the teams vying a place in the final are Greenock Morton and Aberdeen.

For Greenock, it's their first major semi-final in 35 years. In fact, the only trophy the club has won in its history was the Scottish Cup in 1922.

Aberdeen on the other hand are accustomed to these sort of knee-knocking games. The Dons lifted the trophy for the sixth time in 2014 and this is their third semi-final in the tournament in four seasons.

Junior Stanislas misses out with a calf problem - a blow for Bournemouth considering his recent form.

But Joshua King has been pressing for a start, with a goal and an assist off the bench in his last two Cherries appearances, and a goal for Norway against San Marino in the international break.

Gabriel: I was a mascot for my 9th birthday at White Hart Lane in a UEFA Cup match versus Sporting Braga- I held Dimitar Berbatov's hand and asked him how many he was going to score as we walked out the tunnel. He said 'how many you want?' I replied 'a modest 2 please?' He duly went and bagged a brace.

  6. It's Cherries v Spurs - so don't miss the startpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (12:30 BST)

Fans turning up late for Tottenham and Bournemouth's games last season would have missed early goals on both occasions.

A year ago this weekend, Matt Ritchie gave Bournemouth the lead within 50 seconds but Spurs bounced back to win 5-1 thanks to Harry Kane's hat-trick. And in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane in March, Kane netted within 43 seconds in a 3-0 win.

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (12:30 BST)

Bournemouth make one change from the side that beat Hull 6-1 last Saturday, with Joshua King replacing Junior Stanislas.

That must be injury-related - Stanislas has scored three and made two in his last three matches but isn't on the bench...

Bournemouth XI: Boruc, Adam Smith, Francis, Steve Cook, Daniels, Surman, Arter, King, Wilshere, Ibe, Callum Wilson.

Subs: Gosling, Ake, Afobe, Gradel, Federici, Fraser, Mings.

Tottenham make two changes to the side that drew 0-0 at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Kyle Walker returns at right-back to take Kieran Trippier's place, and striker Vincent Janssen drops to the bench with midfielder Moussa Dembele coming in.

Spurs XI: Lloris, Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose; Wanyama, Dembele; Lamela, Eriksen, Dele; Son.

Subs: Janssen, Vorm, Trippier, Sissoko, Wimmer, Winks, Davies.

Cheers Alan. Morning all. A gloriously sunny day in the north and bathing in sunshine down on the south coast. You can feel the winter chill starting to creep in though.

Talking of creeping, hosts Bournemouth look good for another decent season in the Premier League, losing just once in their last six games.

Opponents Tottenham have started the season unbeaten, and a win this lunchtime could take them top.

    Big.

We'll be bringing you the team news from today's lunchtime kick-off, Bournemouth v Tottenham, shortly.

Cherries midfielder Harry Arter is nursing a knee problem and is rated 50-50 by boss Eddie Howe, while Max Gradel could return from a hamstring injury.

Tottenham full-back Danny Rose suffered a bruised foot against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday and is a doubt and Toby Alderweireld will miss his first league game for Spurs because of a leg injury.

Both teams should be feeling chipper - Bournemouth hammered Hull 6-1 last Saturday and have taken seven points from their past three matches, while Spurs have done the same and will go top if they win - at least until Arsenal host Middlesbrough at 15:00 BST.

  15. Can Liverpool return to normal service?published at 11:17

Liverpool v West Brom (17:30 BST)

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

After the build-up and tension in their match against Manchester United, Liverpool will hope normal service can resume and they can return to their free-flowing football that has produced 18 goals already.

The fact that they have never failed to score in successive league games under Jurgen Klopp tells its own story.

Tony Pulis will have a game plan for his West Brom team, who arrive at Anfield unbeaten in their past four games but without key defender Jonny Evans.

Nacer Chadli has added much-needed quality to their attacking threat, though they will be aware it's at the other end of the pitch where they will have to maintain all levels of concentration.

Slaven Bilic's switch to a back three at Palace paid off, with West Ham looking better at both ends of the pitch. Aaron Cresswell was particularly impressive on his first appearance of the season, which will only add to the Hammers' frustration over his suspension.

Sunderland have lost their identity according to chief executive Martin Bain. He has backed David Moyes as the right man to help rebuild the club, while Moyes says the fans are 'understanding' of their current situation after meeting supporters' groups this week.

He also believes he's under no more pressure than any other Premier League manager; might that change with defeat on Saturday?

Not exactly a childhood mascot, but close enough...

Anonymous: I was the official match ball carrier for the Champions League match between Liverpool and Porto at Anfield in 2007. My job was to take the ball on to the pitch before kick-off and hand it over to the referee.

The match came just days after Liverpool's owners had tried to remove Rafael Benitez from his position as manager and replace him with Jürgen Klinsmann, so the Liverpool supporters were loud on the night.

I remember standing in the tunnel before the game and watching as the Porto players shuffled out of the away dressing room, and genuinely, as the noise travelling through the tunnel and up into the corridor increased, the look of panic on their faces was evident. Liverpool won the match 4-1.

  19. Swansea's 'alarming slide'published at 11:01

    Swansea v Watford (15:00 BST)

    Alistair Mann
    MOTD commentator

With just one point gathered from their last seven matches, Swansea are currently enduring their worst ever start to a league season.

Without a win since the opening day, new manager Bob Bradley's first task is to attempt to restore the self-belief necessary to reverse their alarming slide.

There were glimpses of just such qualities in his first match in charge at Arsenal and though it ultimately ended in defeat, there was a real sense that his appointment had already prompted a positive response.

They now need the kind of run which Watford themselves are currently enjoying, having recovered from a winless August to accumulate 10 points from five matches since.
