Jurgen Klopp is understandably a happy man. But he says he won't be going out for a celebratory meal in Liverpool tonight. Instead he'll be sat at home, no doubt watching Match of the Day. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, talking to BBC Sport: "We created unbelievable chances for scoring more than two. But it was exciting until the last second. 

"When they scored, I felt not so good, it was clear, our plan was to avoid the set piece. It is so difficult, they are really role models for set-pieces.

"I am pleased with the performance, the result, no one injured, it was a good game for our side. It is West Brom, they don't lose by much, nothing will change their style of play

"We came to win this game, the boys did well, I am happy this kind of football is not a guarantee. In other games we will be more under pressure, the work never stops or ends we have to carry on, an early moment in the season but all good."

It takes a lot to leave Jurgen Klopp feeling satisfied. Says who? The man himself.

"I don't know when I was last satisfied, maybe 2012 when won double with Dortmund," the German claimed after his side moved second in the Premier League.

More from Baggies boss Tony Pulis, speaking to BBC Sport: "First-half we were OK, just two poor mistakes. I felt were were OK, it is quality at times when we get the ball, to get in their final third.

"Second half we had a go, it opened up at our end and Ben Foster made some wonderful saves. We made changes, freshened it up and caused them problems.

"You know if you get a goal it puts them on the back foot and it is a shame it didn't come earlier.

"We lack certain qualities we are looking for. The squad has improved, they have faults and we accept that but they worked hard today."

Sounds like Tony Pulis is backing the Reds to end their 26-year wait for the English title. "They've got a clear run at the title," says the Baggies boss, pointing out they have no European distractions.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport: "I am happy with the performance of my team. It is difficult against West Brom, so many balls in the air, they are so dangerous from set pieces, 

"It would have been a joke if we drew today, unbelievable how we played. It was a good performance against a team like this, they were here to get something, we never let them back into the game.

"Their corners kicks are so good, I had feeling 15 players in white kit were in the box.

"It was a big, big challenge to stay cool, stay concentrated. It is a really nice team I am really happy to have these boys around."

West Brom goalscorer Gareth McAuley, speaking to BT Sport: "We expected a difficult game, that is what we got. We gave them the two goals, they were preventable and we are disappointed with that. They are a quality team but we should have been better today. We wanted to frustrate for as long as we could and come out and have a go, but it was too late in the game."

Jurgen Klopp doesn't mince his words. "It would have been a joke if West Brom got a draw," says the Liverpool boss. He wouldn't have been laughing.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson speaking to BT Sport: "We were disappointed conceding from a set piece as we had worked on that. We had handled it well until the goal. From that point on, they lumped the ball forward to put pressure on us, we coped with it well to see the game out.

"First half we were very good with the ball, it got a bit nervy after their goal. We need to build on that and stop the goal from the set piece. It is too early for that talk (about the title race) we have to concentrate on each game, it is a  bonus teams around us dropped points but the main aim for us is to get three points."

How we feeling then Liverpool fans? Signs tonight that your team can finally land the English title? Or slightly worried that they didn't kill off a poor West Brom side?

Liverpool goalscorer (and, arguably, man of the match) Philippe Coutinho looks as snug as a bug inside a club-branded puffa jacket as he faces the post-match cameras.

"It's fun," says the Brazilian when asked about playing in a fluid attacking formation.

The travelling fans won't be too happy as Albion didn't create a shot on goal until late into the second half. 

They got a goal from the set piece and that gave them a little bit of momentum but let's be honest, Liverpool were totally dominant and it was all one way traffic. 

It would have been a robbery of Peaky Blinders proportions if this Midlands gang had escaped Anfield with a point. West Brom remain 13th as their four-match unbeaten Premier League run comes to an end.

So that win - which should have been comfortable but ended up a little edgy - pushes Liverpool up to second. (That 'Top of the Klopps' headline will have to wait...)

The Reds are level on points with Arsenal, who were held to a goalless stalemate at Middlesbrough.

But Manchester City can return to the summit if they beat Southampton tomorrow.
