    Manchester City 2-1 Barcelona

Barcelona have just not got going since half time, and City almost have a third when Sergio Aguero heads just wide from David Silva's free-kick. The great Barca look there for the taking tonight.

No instructions from Pep Guardiola following Kevin de Bruyne's brilliant free-kick.

Guardiola remained where he watched it, sat in the right-hand seat on the front row of the City benches.

He's back up now, pointing and spinning and jumping, like some mad dad dance.

What an historic day for him this could be.

  3. Can City do it?published at 20:57 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2016

    Manchester 2-1 Barcelona

Elish Gyamaru: We can see the changes introduced by Guardiola in the city team. They look more dangerous than previous seasons.

Footy Ombudsman: The shackles are off. It's Barca's turn to be unable to defend.

Adam May: Well that's changed things. Impressive free-kick. Looked in slow motion but too much power on it for the keeper.

Can City beat Barcelona for the first time in six attempts? It's the first time they've been up against them. Let us know your thoughts at #bbcfootball on Twitter.

    Magical free-kick. Absolutely magical.

I'm taking nothing away from De Bruyne, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the Barcelona goal took a step to his right at the moment the ball was struck and couldn't get his weight back in the right position.

    Ludogorets Razgrad 2-2 Arsenal

Arsenal are having nearly all of the ball but their best attack so far in the second half ended with a poor ball in from Mesut Ozil which was easily dealt with.

    Manchester City 2-1 Barcelona

Manchester City are ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach and into second in Group C as it stands. They are close to a third too as John Stones flicks on a Kevin de Bruyne free-kick and it goes between the post and Nicolas Otamendi...

Special! Manchester City lead and it is a wonderful free-kick from Kevin de Bruyne!

David Silva is tripped just outside the area, De Bruyne lines it up and punches a dipping shot over the wall, past Marc-Andre ter Stegen before he can get across to it.

Can the hosts go on from here and win?

Sterling should not have taken a touch! He must hit it first time for me...

I'm not so sure that Manchester City will get a better chance than that in the remaining 40 minutes. Raheem Sterling was in on goal. One solid touch and he scores.

Dom Mosses: Kieran Gibbs, lauded in the Premier League. Horribly exposed in Europe. A trademark of English defensive coaching.

Andrew Priestley: Ivan Rakitic is an under appreciated footballer. The proof I hear you ask? Just the seamless transition since losing Xavi.

Oh what a chance! Again it comes from a poor pass in his own half by Sergi Roberto, Sergio Aguero finds Raheem Sterling, it's a carbon copy of the equaliser. This time though Sterling's touch is heavy and he shoots into the side-netting. Moments later Aguero curls a shot wide from 20 yards.

    Borussia Monchengladbach 1-0 Celtic

    Alasdair Lamont

Unfortunately for Celtic, the goal they conceded came just as they were enjoying their best spell of that first half. Certainly, the home side have been dominant, but they have only threatened Craig Gordon's goal sporadically. Celtic will feel they can score on the evidence of some of the openings they've engineered so far.

  16. Postpublished at 20:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2016

    Manchester City 1-1 Barcelona

I saw City play Dortmund at home about four years ago and Ilkay Gundogan was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. He's had his injury problems but he has been excellent so far for City.

A 5-2 win for the Arsenal? I wouldn't rule out any score if that first-half showing is anything to go by.

  19. Will Arsenal secure qualification tonight?published at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2016

    Ludogorets Razgrad 2-2 Arsenal

So having gone 2-0 down inside 15 minutes, Arsenal have pulled it back to 2-2 by half time. Can the Gunners push on and secure their qualification for the knockout stages tonight?

With PSG up in Basel, Arsenal will go through as it stands.

Meer Shah: Arsenal are back in the game. To be fair, we were never quite out of it.

Richard Wyatt: When Arsenal went 2 down I predicted a 5-2 victory for The Arsenal. I remain confident.

Maurice Enwereji: Arsenal this should be a November to remember. We must break that jinx.

    PSV 1-1 Bayern Munich

Elsewhere tonight, Bayern Munich are taking the fight to PSV as you may expect.

In the first half, only two Bayern outfield players played in their own half during the opening period if we examine the average positions players took up.

The positive stance has served up 14 shots for Carlo Ancelotti's side but they only have a 1-1 half-time scoreline to show for all that endeavour.
