    Tottenham 0-0 CSKA Moscow

A bright start from the Russians who sweep down the left-hand side of the Spurs defence but a low ball in is cleared by Jan Vertonghen.

On the bench tonight, interestingly, is Toby Alderweireld after his injury problems.

At every game across Europe this week there is a minute's silence to mark the plane crash last week that killed 71 people, including most of the Brazilian football team, Chapecoense.

    Impeccably observed throughout.

Indeed, the Dragao is much more empty than Wembley. Plenty of seats to be had in Porto.

Wembley looks relatively full tonight as Spurs line up against CSKA. The experiment has not worked. To date.

Leicester are in red tonight, Wes Morgan wears a smile on his face as he shakes hands with the mascots and lines up his team-mates.

Paul Atkins: Even if they are relegated Ranieri should have some role there for life after what he achieved.

Mat Atahari: If Leicester get relegated, pretty sure Ranieri can get them back up again. He's the type that requires patience from a club.

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri: “We don’t need a result but it is a great opportunity for the players who have not played often. It’s a great chance to see how they get on against a big European team and also for me to see how they cope.

"I want to see character and organisation, I want to see many things about how we play and the system. There is much to be happy and unhappy about.”

That's not all Lyon have to contend with tonight.

Victory by two goals or more against Sevilla will have to come despite the squad being "seriously shaken emotionally" after firecrackers were thrown at goalkeeper Anthony Lopes on Saturday.

Lopes, 26, has "traumatic deafness" after the incident at Metz that led to their Ligue 1 match being abandoned.

The Portugal international was taken to hospital, where he has been cleared of permanent damage to his eardrums, and he starts tonight.

  13. Group H's three-way battlepublished at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2016

With three teams still competing over two spots, Group H may well see the most action tonight.

Juventus are in the strongest position - already guaranteed a place in the next round, they need to at least match Sevilla's result while hosting Dinamo Zagreb, who are yet to gain a point.

To prevent Sevilla from joining Juventus in the next round, Lyon must win by at least two goals, with the benefit of home advantage.

They're both through to the first knockout round regardless, but there's plenty to play for when Real Madrid host Borussia Dortmund tonight.

Dortmund are currently top of Group F with 13 points, and will stay there if they avoid defeat against Madrid, who are on 11.

"We're playing a final, a game that determines who wins the group and we're at home so obviously we want to put on a big performance," said Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.

Dortmund are playing for the history books as well - their 19 goals in the group stage so far is one shy of a Champions League record, currently held by Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona.

There are two spaces up for grabs tonight and four teams going for them. You do the maths.

Porto (G), Copenhagen (G), Sevilla (H) and Lyon (H) could all make it through to the post-Christmas funfair.

We now know 14 of the last 16 teams in this season's Champions League. Who?

Qualified as group winners: Arsenal (Group A), Napoli (B), Barcelona (C), Atletico Madrid (D), Monaco (E), Leicester City (G).

Qualified as group runners-up: Paris St-Germain (A), Benfica (B), Manchester City (C), Bayern Munich (D), Bayer Leverkusen (E)

Other teams already qualified: Dortmund (F), Real Madrid (F), Juventus (H)

That means that those three could yet qualify as winners or runners-up.

Tottenham have failed to score more than one goal in each of their last nine Champions League games. In this season's group stages, only three of Tottenham's 58 shots have found the back of the net.

Tottenham have also only won one of their last eight Champions League games (D2 L5), which came away against CSKA Moscow this season (1-0).

  20. 'Europa League is important'published at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2016

Tottenham v CSKA Moscow (19:45 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are third in Group E and know they will qualify for the Europa League by avoiding defeat against fourth-placed CSKA Moscow.

And Mauricio Pochettino says Europe's second-tier club competition offers his team the chance to make amends for their poor showing in the Champions League.

"I believe that it's important for the club to be involved in the Europa League," he said.

"We didn't play well in the Champions League at Wembley. But it's important for us to be involved in the Europa League. Why not try to go further in that competition?

"It's true that it'll be tough to be involved in the Europa League again, but if we don't show we deserve to qualify for the Champions League, then our responsibility is to go to the Europa League to go further in the competition."
