    Christian Benteke

What was I saying about coming back?! What a superb header from Christian Benteke. He rises in the box, way, way above Seamus Coleman, to meet Joel Ward's cross and power a header across Maarten Stekelenburg and into the far corner.

Both Belgians on the scoresheet and game very much on.

Let's not forget, Palace came from behind to win at Sunderland last weekend. The situation was much worse than this for them as well.

Yannick Bolasie has his arms in the air in frustration. He thought he had possession in the box with a chance to make it count, but the referee has penalised him for a shove on Joel Ward.

Although Kevin Kilbane is right - it has been an even game - Everton have slightly shaded the stats. More possession, more territory and more shots on target. Romelu Lukaku has hit both of their on-target efforts (with a 50% conversion rate) while Palace are yet to trouble home keeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

As a few of you have pointed out on Twitter, the free-kick has another controversial element. The fact that it was given for a high boot means it should have been indirect, meaning Lukaku couldn't shoot as he did to score. The only explanation is that the ref clearly thought there had been contact.

And here's how the breakdown looks... Sixty goals from inside the box. Poacher.

There's so little between these sides. The goal came from a set-piece, from a brilliantly worked free-kick. Other than that neither keeper has had much to do.

Alan Pardew will say to his players at half-time, 'I'm not too disappointed'. There has been one moment of quality and that's the difference.

Everton have the lead - courtesy of Romelu Lukaku's free-kick - but this game is far from over. Palace have shown they have the means to get back into this.

Ross Barkley's intention was to curl in a cross from the free-kick. He doesn't succeed as his poor low delivery is easily cleared.

Everton could end the half in style. Bolasie is chopped down near the edge of the box. James Tomkins - not the perpetrator of the foul - is booked for dissent.

Everton are in the mood now. A sweeping attack ends with Coleman winning a corner.

Phil Jagielka gets his head to Barkley's delivery but loops his header on to the top of the net.

If anything, the high boot from Delaney comes marginally before Jagielka's handling of the ball. If you go on chronology of events, then it is rightly a free-kick to Everton.

Plus, Jagielka's hands were only up as a protective measure to ensure he didn't get his face kicked off.

Brilliant! Romelu Lukaku gets the ball up and down so quickly.  That's what Drogba used to do.

Palace keeper Steve Mandanda can't move because of the pace on it. Lukaku wanted the free-kick, took charge of the situation ahead of Ross Barkley and scored a superb goal. He should be on them all the time.

    Romelu Lukaku

Told you it was a dangerous free-kick. Romelu Lukaku steps up and curls a belter of a shot over the wall and into the net. Steve Mandanda didn't stand a chance.

However, I'm sure Alan Pardew will have something to say about the incident that led to the free-kick, particularly the handling of the ball by Jagielka.

Damien Delaney sticks in a high boot on Phil Jagielka and is penalised, giving Everton a very dangerous free-kick on the edge of the Palace box.

Jagielka might have got a bit lucky there as he handled the ball in the incident...

A Palace corner momentarily has Everton hearts in mouths as Stekelenburg comes out, flaps and misses. The referee's whistle prevents the attack from becoming more threatening. Was that a foul? Really? Protected species are keepers.

There's not a lot in it. Both sides had spells but neither keeper has had a real telling save to make yet.

Palace's turn to win a corner. Fair play to the visitors, they are not sitting back.

Everton have dealt with everything that has been thrown at them, though, mainly in the form of crosses. This time, Williams rises to head clear.
