"Premier League on a Friday night is still growing on me. It does seem a little strange. When I was a player in the Championship I used to like playing Friday nights because there was more time for recovery and more time with family at the weekend.

"Essentially it should be the same as any game. But Goodison under the lights is always something the crowd have relished and come out for. There is a buzz around Goodison tonight."

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

"Last weekend reiterated once again what the Premier League is all about. Everton lost their unbeaten record under Ronald Koeman at Bournemouth, while Crystal Palace dramatically won their third league game in a row at Sunderland, having managed just three wins in their previous 25.

"Everton's defeat was a reminder there is still work to be done and they will be determined to return to winning ways.

"Palace have timely momentum and the opportunity to go level on points with their opponents. They will be wary of Yannick Bolasie, against them for the first time, but have Christian Benteke back on Merseyside, who's added a much-needed extra element to their play."

"I'm quite surprised that Ronald Koeman has brought Tom Cleverley in for Kevin Mirallas from the attacking side of it. Koeman likes his side going at teams so we might see a different approach from the home team tonight."

Johnny Magrinho: Bit of a gamble, but I've captained Lukaku ahead of Aguero this week. Hopefully we will have a goal fest tonight because of it!

Apparently, we have a change of referee tonight. It was initially meant to be Mark Clattenburg but he is ill so Jon Moss has taken over the whistle*.

    * I'm guessing he's probably got his own. I hope so, otherwise he might catch what Clatts has got.

There are a couple of significant milestones up for grabs tonight. If Everton win it will give them 16 points and equal their highest tally after seven matches of a Premier League season, set in 2004-05. They went on to record their best Premier League finish that campaign, ending fourth.

Palace could equal their top-flight record of three consecutive away wins, set on three occasions since the beginning of 2014.

Oh, and one other neat little stat: the Eagles have gone 11 Premier League games without a clean sheet - their last coming against Everton in a 0-0 draw at home in April 2016.

I just hope the man from Dante's Fires isn't in the crowd if Everton lose. To the untrained eye it might look a bit rubbish and like they haven't bounced back!

Alan Pardew is more than aware of what Yannick Bolasie can do...

“I love Yala but I just hope he doesn’t have one of his super-duper games that he can have,” said the Palace boss. “Of course he’ll be looking to impress but he has nothing to prove to us or our fans. Our fans still love him.

"I suppose we do know everything about him. On his day he can be undefendable at times and he goes from nought to five yards as fast as any player I have ever worked with. But that is not to say we can’t deal with him. We hope to.”

The money Palace spent on Christian Benteke was recycled from the sale of a man who faces them tonight - Yannick Bolasie.

The 27-year-old DR Congo international midfielder joined Everton in the summer on a five-year deal for a fee reportedly around £30m - a record for the Toffees.

Often, Bolasie has seemed like a student of the Paolo Wanchope school of football ability - pulling out plenty of tricks but never looking like the ball is fully under control and too often lacking a final product.

However, there have been signs he is amping up the effiency. Two assists (both for Romelu Lukaku) in five appearances is a decent return. You better believe he'll have the bit between his teeth tonight.

I suspect Christian Benteke will not get an easy ride tonight from the Everton fans. It's his own fault for joining Liverpool, of course.

Saying that, the Toffees fans might actually appreciate all he did (or more accurately, didn't do) during his time at Anfield. Just 10 goals in 43 appearances.

Two in six appearances from the striker have helped Palace to two wins in recent games - none more important than the 94th-minute winner at the Stadium of Light last weekend.

Chances of Yannick Bolasie coming back to haunt Palace tonight? The visitors will be hoping to keep Everton's £25m summer signing quiet.

So we want to know which former players always play well against your team. I remember Eric Cantona coming back to Elland Road a few times and hurting us, in so many ways.

Or maybe you swapped Sunday League sides yourself and bagged a title decider against your old mates.
