Celtic are pushing once more, with left-back Kieran Tierney crossing straight to Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham and Scott Sinclair picking up a delicious Tom Rogic pass but quickly closed down by the Rangers goalie. Celtic have a corner.

Celtic continue to dominate possession but haven't managed a shot on target yet. Counter-attacking opportunities for Rangers but they haven't managed to get anything together either. Engrossing tactical game. Joey Barton more involved in this game than in any of the others I've seen him play since moving to Scotland.

In the past five minutes Celtic have enjoyed 92% of the possession. Still goalless, mind you.

Kieran Tierney collects the ball at the corner flag down the Celtic left and passes to Tom Rogic, who is lurking 25 yards from goal in a central position. The big Australian midfielder had time to take a touch but opts for a first-time blast...that drifts wa-a-a-a-ay over the crossbar.

Niko Kranjcar has Rangers' first half chance to shoot at goal but the Croatian midfielder skies his 30-yard effort high over the Celtic crossbar. At the other end, Joey Barton's pass back to his goalkeeper sends hearts a-fluttering in the Rangers support - but Wes Foderingham collects calmly and plays the ball out with his foot. Panic? What panic?

Rangers are getting forward a bit more now and their left-back Lee Wallace makes a run into the Celtic box to collect a Barrie McKay pass. However, strapping Danish defender Erik Sviatchenko slides in to clear the danger.

As you can expect, there will be loads of talking points from the first Old Firm match of the season. Perhaps most controversial will be the decision by Rangers striker Joe Garner to wear a thick head band - a black and white one at that. Very Continental, I feel.

Niko Kranjcar's corner kick from the left swings to the back of the area where big Rob Kiernan is lurking, but the unmarked Rangers defender heads over Dorus de Vries's bar.

Former Rangers and Scotland striker Steven Thompson on Radio Scotland: "Celtic have Rangers camped in their own half. Their front four are putting so much pressure on the Rangers defence that they are being forced to hoof it long, which is against what they like to do."

Nir Bitton clips the heels of Josh Windass as he broke from the halfway line, as deliberate a scything as you'll see all day. Celtic's Israeli midfielder is booked.

Celtic have Rangers pressed back but without having generated any goal chances. Lee Wallace's hopeful pass from the left of the Rangers defence drifts aimlessly to Kieran Tierney in the Celtic left-back position - there were no blue shirts in the Celtic half.

Joey Barton gets an early touch from a Barrie McKay pass as Rangers break swiftly across the halfway line. They knock it about before the move breaks down with the home fans baying. It's now Celtic's turn for a bit of helter-skelter football.

Celtic fans sing You'll Never Walk Alone as the noise level is cranked up just that bit more. Meanwhile, the players engage in a lot of high-fives with their team-mates.
