  1. Will Rodgers stick or twist?published at 18:26 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    Barcelona v Celtic (1945)

Not long now until we find out the teams for tonight's big match at the Nou Camp.

Will Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers make changes after Saturday's 5-1 win over Rangers?

Celtic had 57% possession in the derby and that's just not going to happen in Barcelona.

Will Rodgers beef up his defence? Mikael Lustig or Kieran Tierney could move in one to make it a central three, with either Emilio Izaguirre or Cristian Gamboa coming in at full-back.

Stuart Armstrong impressed as a second half substitute at the weekend and he's a strong midfield runner, so he could make his way into the starting line up.

  2. Barca fans to mark Catalonia's national daypublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    Barcelona v Celtic (19:45)

Barcelona supporters plan to display 30,000 pro-Catalan independence flags during tonight's Champions League game with Celtic at the Nou Camp, risking the wrath of European soccer's governing body Uefa.

The club were fined 30,000 euros last July after supporters waved the flags, known as esteladas, during the 2015 Champions League final in Berlin.

They were also fined 40,000 euros last October after a similar display in a game against Bayer Leverkusen.

Uefa's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body ruled the club had breached article 16(2)(e) of their regulations, which prohibits "the use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit any message that is not fit for a sports event, particularly messages that are of a political, ideological, religious, offensive or provocative nature".

The Court of Arbitration for Sport is currently studying the second case following Barcelona's appeal.

  8. Old Firm fallout continuespublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

Peter Lawwell responds to Rangers statement

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has reiterated that his club will not become involved in a public "tit-for-tat" dispute with Rangers over the off-field events that occurred during Saturday's Old Firm match.

Celtic's 5-1 victory over their rivals was marred by several unsavoury incidents off the park, with Rangers saying their fans "were subjected to a sickening and shameful display of outright sectarian hatred".

Rangers fans caused significant damage to the toilets in the away end at Celtic Park after their side's defeat.

"What we won't do is to get into a public spat or tit-for-tat situation," Lawwell said in an interview with TalkSport.

"We try to operate to the highest possible standards. We will deal with these matters as we always do in a professional and private manner. But if there is anyone found in any way behaving in a manner that we don't like then we will take the action.

"But I don't think we want to sensationalise this, I think we want to put it into context. The overwhelming proportion of the supporters who were in the stadium gave us huge positive support and I don't think we should take it out of context.

"We should take it seriously and we will deal with it in the manner that we always do."

  10. Record of Scottish clubs against Barcapublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    Barcelona v Celtic (19:45)

Celtic's task against Barcelona at the Nou Camp this evening is a daunting one, but they can take some comfort in the fact that Scottish clubs have a pretty decent record against the Catalan giants (as outlined below).

Scottish clubs have registered seven victories in total against Barcelona in European competition. Celtic account for two of those wins. They knocked Ronaldinho et al out of the 2004 Uefa Cup after Alan Thompson's goal at Celtic Park gave them a 1-0 victory in the first-leg. Tony Watt's goal gave Neil Lennon's men a memorable win over Barca in the Champions League in 2012.

Hibernian beat the Spanish side 3-2 at Easter Road in the 1960/61 Fairs Cup after an incredible 4-4 first-leg draw at the Nou Camp.

Luis Enrique will be relieved his superstars will not have to face Dundee United this evening. The Tannadice side's record against Barca in Europe reads like this: played four, won four.

They beat Barca home and away in the 1966/67 Fairs Cup, and repeated the feat en route to the 1986/87 Uefa Cup final.

  11. McGhee looks ahead to Lithuania testpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

Looking ahead to Scotland's World Cup home qualifier against Lithuania next month, the national team's assistant manager Mark McGhee feels the tie will be harder than the game in Malta earlier this month, where Scotland won 5-1.

"We're unlikely to beat Lithuania by five goals, it will be a lot tighter than that," said McGhee.

"We're going to have to earn the win.

"We felt we could take a risk in the Malta game [with] the starting line-up and system in order to find things out about people. This time, we will start with the team that is right for the 90 minutes and not, to a degree, to find out about players."

  14. Snodgrass influence boosts Scotland - McGheepublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    Richard Wilson
    BBC Scotland

Scotland assistant manager Mark McGhee says that Robert Snodgrass has the "personality and authority" to help to fill the void left by the international retirement of national team captain Scott Brown.

Snodgrass scored a hat-trick as Scotland overcame Malta last month in their opening World Cup qualifying campaign tie, the first game following Brown's announcement that he would be focusing on his Celtic career.

McGhee believes Snodgrass, who scored for Hull City at the weekend, can be an influential figure in the squad.

He also said Scotland will need to produce a better performance than the display against Malta when they face Lithuania at Hampden later this month.

  19. Celtic ready for Group C kick-offpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    Barcelona v Celtic (1945)

Celtic begin their Champions League group campaign this evening with a daunting visit to the Nou Camp.

The teams met in a recently friendly with Barcelona winning 3-1 in Dublin. Celtic's last visit to the home of the Spanish champions ended in a painful 6-1 loss in December 2013.

"We won't be fearful," said Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers at yesterday's media conference. "As a manager, in every game you go into you have to believe you can get a positive result.

"We respect this will be a really difficult game on the back of a really tough game with a great result at the weekend, but these are the types of games we want to be involved in."

  20. 'Rangers critics will eat their words'published at 11:41 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

Manager Mark Warburton vows to make Rangers' critics eat their words after being stung by "poisonous" criticism of their heavy defeat at Celtic Park.

Speaking to Rangers TV yesterday, he said: "I told the players that I was warned not to read the papers, but I thought 'no, I will read the papers', and you see some of the poisonous, mischievous dialogue that is written, and that just burns in your memory and that is something we will use.

"We need to turn it round and we will turn it around quickly, and while I won't use the exact words I used with the players, we will make sure the people who are writing what they are writing right now come to eat those words.

"Right now, we have got to bite our tongue. As a Rangers fan, player or staff member, whatever it may be, right now we eat humble pie, as the fact is we lost 5-1 on Saturday, but that will live in the memory in terms of what's been said and we will certainly utilise that going forward."
