  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 15 October 2016

    Aston Villa 1-1 Wolves

It's all level at the break at Villa Park in a tale of two penalties.

The hosts took the lead through Jonathan Kodjia's spot-kick after Jack Grealish was tripped in the area by Dominic Iorfa but the visitors levelled when Helder Costa coolly despatched his own penalty after Aly Cissokho handled.

It's been entertaining if not particularly high quality so far.

A sliced Carl Ikeme clearance leads to a great chance for Villa but Jonathan Kodjia's shot is charged down and the keeper saves easily.

Kodjia's stike partner Ross McCormack is fuming about not getting a square pass.

    "... Greets the Wolves equaliser.

"No argument about this penalty, at least, after a second viewing.

"The hopelessly unmarked Helder Costa's shot was on its way in when it struck the outstretched arm of Ally Cissokho. Great decision from the ref over an incident which, with the naked eye, at normal speed, looked at first like a great bit of defending!"

There's a bit of pushing and shoving after a foul on Villa winger Jack Grealish about 30 yards from goal.

Wolves midfielder Conor Coady, who made the foul, and Villa striker Ross McCormack are both shown yellow cards.

Grealish perhaps a little lucky to escape punishment after kicking out at Coady.

Albert Adomah sends a free-kick from the left edge of the area straight into the grateful arms of Carl Ikeme.

Much easier work than the spectacular save he was forced into a few minutes ago.

    Great save from Carl Ikeme!

Newcastle won their third successive Championship game and moved to second in the table as they cruised past Brentford at St James' Park.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez: "We did everything we wanted to do - we controlled the game and had good chances.

"I'm not watching the table because it's too soon. I said the other day I was convinced we could improve; I'm pleased but we can still improve.

"The team is doing a lot of good things and we have a striker who is confident in front of goal and scoring."

    Wolves are deservedly level.

Helder Costa sends the ball to Pierluigi Gollini's right. The Italian guesses the right way but gets nowhere near it.

    Game on.

"After a bright start for Wolves, Villa have taken control of this one - and, already, after just two days in charge, Steve Bruce appears to have found the secret of how to motivate Jack Grealish.

"He has so far been Villa's main attacking threat, capped by the part he played in winning Jonathan Kodjia's penalty.

"Grealish had already given one warning to the visiting defence when he won a free-kick in a threatening position after being brought down by Conor Coady.

"But, when his twinkle-toed touch this time took him into the penalty area, it was Dominic Iorfa - his England Under-21 international team-mate in midweek - who was in dangerously close attendance when he went down. Too close, according to referee David Coote."

Dominic Iorfa needlessly gives away a corner after Villa had conceded possession.

Fortunately for him the visitors clear the ball away with relative ease.

    Aston Villa 1-0 Wolves

Wolves have weathered a bit of a storm and are back to dominating possession.

It looks like Steve Bruce is content with having Villa sit a bit deeper and look to hit Wolves on the counter.

The goal was perhaps a little harsh on Wolves who had made the brighter start.

However, Villa have been on top since scoring with Jack Grealish going on a couple of runs that have caused a bit of panic in the Wolves defence.

Norwich moved to the top of the Championship after a convincing win over bottom side Rotherham United.

Norwich manager Alex Neil: "I thought we were dominant throughout the game and we deserved to win. The one area we can improve is closing out, but we wanted to win and we did."

"Wes [Hoolahan] was at his best. The first goal was an incredible bit of skill. It's what we've come to expect."
