  4. Postpublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham

Daniel Sturridge slots a pass into the run of Danny Ings, take it on to your left foot and the goal would open up but he comes infield and runs down a cul-de-sac.

Around half an hour to go in our five EFL Cup matches - and the one at Elland Road is the only one which would go to extra time as it stands...

Mathias Enell: It may only be Tottenham reserves but it's also only Liverpool reserves out there. Origi and Sturridge on fire!

Sho Rahman: Onomah and Nkoudou have been terrible. Personally don't get the hype surrounding Onomah, don't see anything special.

Paul French: This week, @LFC will be setting their clocks back to the 1980's at this rate.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Arsenal 1-0 Reading

Time for one of the big guns. France striker Olivier Giroud, back from injury, comes on for Jeff Reine-Adelaide.

"Get us a goal lad," will be the gist of Arsene Wenger's instructions.

James Hammond: He may not quite fit our regular system, but it always helps to have a finisher like Sturridge in the squad!

Joe De Rosa: Why can't Spurs play one touch football? They seem to start at the quite well but once in the final quarter they hold the ball up. No first time crosses or shots for that matter. They don't even get behind the Liverpool defence. This has been their way for some time now and it lacks goals.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

Spurs bring on Victor Wanyama for Eric Dier, and Danny Ings and Nathaniel Clyne are on for Liverpool.

    Arsenal 1-0 Reading

Don't bet against Reading making a fist of this tie. Yann Kermorgant appears to have springs in his heels, leaping high to head towards goal. But Gunners keeper Emiliano Martinez stops it.

And there's some activity on the Arsenal bench...

    Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Sturridge had a long, long, time to think about that.

    It was a cool finish.

In fairness, he has lots of chances but it is a big tick for him tonight. He has done extremely well.

  13. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 2-0 Tottenhampublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Daniel Sturridge (64 mins)

You don't see these very often, a striker clean through one-on-one. Divock Origi plays it inside to Gini Wijnaldum, he splits the Spurs defence with a first-time pass and Daniel Sturridge makes no mistake, nutmegging Michel Vorm.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Newcastle 4-0 Preston

Christian Atsu flashes over a cross from the left and it almost sails straight in, lashing against the far post! It could be double figures tonight...

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Bristol City 0-2 Hull City

All or nothing, as the Small Faces sang, for Bristol City. Lee Johnson hauls off his two strikers, bringing on top scorer Tammy Abraham and Lee Tomlin. Gone for it!

Seconds later, the Robins shout for a penalty when Bobby Reid goes tumbling. It is a strong shout too. But the ref doesn't want to know.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

There is a change, but it's not Danny Ings. Spurs make a change as Erik Lamela replaces Tom Carroll.

Kuni Poonasamy: Get that lad #Ings on I'm sensing a brace for him! 3-1 you heard it here first!

Chris Lord: Owp... Only a case of how many for Newcastle now

Kyle: Great performance from Newcastle. Great to see us tearing Preston apart. No reason why we cannot go all the way

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:03 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

What a hit! Wonderful strike from Divock Origi from a good 25 yards, so much power behind that and Michel Vorm makes a superb save. Full-stretch.

  19. goal

GOAL - Newcastle 4-0 Prestonpublished at 20:59 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Aleksandar Mitrovic (55 mins)

Turns out a £13m striker is useful against Preston's reserves. Who knew?

Aleksandar Mitrovic has his second of the night, taking the ball on his chest and beating two defenders before smashing home.

  20. Postpublished at 20:59 British Summer Time 25 October 2016

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Much livelier now as Daniel Sturridge, and then Divock Origi, are close to breaking clear of the Spurs back four. Gini Wijnaldum then finds Sturridge, his first touch is brilliant to nutmeg his defender but then he can't get a shot off!
