    Two goals for Aleksandar Mitrovic in only his second league start of the season made the difference for Championship leaders Newcastle as they beat Preston.

    Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez: "We can see the team spirit growing and that is the main thing if you want to be strong. 

    "I am really pleased with the team because we are doing so well away from home. 

    "We showed great character, we made mistakes, but in the whole game we defended well and played the counter-attack we wanted to play."

    It's such an unnerving atmosphere inside Ewood Park for both sets of players.

    Constant whistles are ringing out from the crowd, there are angry shouts from the stands and everyone is on edge.

    Not pleasant at all.

    Newcastle claimed their second win in five days over Preston to remain three points clear at the top of the Championship.

    Preston boss Simon Grayson:"I understand it's a tough role to do, but that's a clear penalty there in the last minute. 

    "Jermaine (Beckford) wouldn't go down if he's got an opportunity like that. It's cost us from getting anything out the game. It was 100% a penalty.

    "We didn't get the breaks with the opportunity for two penalties. You get those breaks when you're at the top of the division."
