  1. Big gamble from Strachanpublished at 19:04 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

That Scotland line-up has certainly raised a few eyebrows. Playing Ikechi Anya at full-back is a gamble by Gordon Strachan but his pace could be vital in trying to nullify the threat of Raheem Sterling. Leigh Griffiths finally gets his chance up front, just as he's lost his place in the Celtic team...

With 60 goals combined for England and Scotland Alan Shearer and Kenny Dalglish make up an impressive front two in your combined XI.

Harshly, Gary Lineker, scorer of 48 international goals, misses out despite being the second most popular striker (40% of selections compared to 64%) behind Shearer.

His place is taken by Scotland's joint all-time leading goalscorer Dalglish, as the former Liverpool man was also picked in midfield positions, making him the second most popular player in all positions overall.

  3. Defensive weakness for Scots?published at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

I worry about Ikechi Anya at the back post. That looks like a weakness to me. If I'm a centre-half playing with a new partner and seeing two full-backs who are probably best going forward, I'm worried. The manager has probably said to Anya and Wallace to cool their jets.

Fans are held inside Stade de France after the friendly between France and Germany on 13 November 2015, after three explosions outside the national stadium and attacks elsewhere in central Paris.

Group A leaders France take on second-placed Sweden tonight on what is sure to be an emotional occasion at Stade de France.

The match is taking place two days before the first anniversary of the Paris attacks that killed 130 people, including one outside the national stadium.

There will be a minute's silence for the victims of the attack and French president Francois Hollande will be in attendance.

"In a way, we are bound by this tragedy, us players and you, you were also there," France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris told reporters.

"It's a tragic event. As we have been saying, we always have to look ahead and try to turn the page, even if this event will stay, linger in our memories, probably for life."

  5. The central issuepublished at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

    England v Scotland (19:45 GMT)

There has been much debate and speculation over who should play as a central striker for both sides.

England have gone with Daniel Sturridge, despite the fact the Liverpool man hasn't scored a Premier League goal this season. He has seven in an England shirt.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths got the shout from Gordon Strachan. Griffiths has nine goals for Celtic this season but has never scored for Scotland...

  6. Team newspublished at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

Northern Ireland v Azerbaijan (19:45 GMT)

Chris Brunt, Kyle Lafferty and Conor McLaughlin return to the Northern Ireland team as boss Michael O'Neill makes three changes for the Windsor Park clash.

West Brom midfielder Brunt missed the Euro 2016 finals with a knee injury while O'Neill goes with an attacking approach as he picks Lafferty in a two-man attack with Josh Magennis. McLaughlin slots in at right-back.

Azerbaijan are without influential captain and defender Rashid Sadygov, who misses out with a knee problem.

    David BeckhamImage source, Getty Images

Selected by 63% of you, England's David Beckham was the most popular midfield selection but was there less competition for the right-wing slot in an England Scotland combined XI?

Steven Gerrard, Paul Gascoigne and Paul Scholes make up an all England midfield. Scholes was selected in a range of positions across the midfield and ironically has to make do with a place on the left of midfield once again.

'Gazza' actually received more votes in total than Beckham, but some of those came as an attacker in various formations.

Graeme Souness came closest to breaking the English midfield dominance but was only selected by 34 per cent of you.

    Keeper: Shilton

Defence: G Neville, Adams, Hansen, Cole

    Midfield: Beckham, Gerrard, Gascoigne, Scholes

There is a fear factor with England. If Scotland were to score first I think that fragile mindset could become a factor.

I think England are under more pressure tonight.

If you put the England bench tonight out against Scotland I would still be backing England.

The 'but' is the energy, intensity and excitement that the Scotland players can bring to this.

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

I'm surprised but delighted to see Leigh Griffiths getting the nod. I think he can play up there on his own and sniff out the channels.

If we get a magnificent win and three points then we're back on course. A draw and we limp on, with the four home games to come.

I don't expect, but I hope, and I think that's where the players and fans will be at.

  13. 'Sturridge has help'published at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

I see a lot of movement in Sturridge, Sterling and Lallana.

All of the interchanging will hopefully help Daniel Sturridge but what worries me is that he does get drawn to the ball.

As long as he stays on the shoulder of the defence and allows the midfield to have space, we should see the best of him.

    Chris Sutton
    Former Celtic and Blackburn striker

There has been a lot of speculation about how England's World Cup qualifier with Scotland could decide the future of both teams' managers but, for me, part of the scenario is pretty simple.

If Scotland lose at Wembley, I think Gordon Strachan will walk.

Gareth Southgate needs a strong England performance and a convincing victory for people to feel he deserves the chance to be manager on a permanent basis, and for there to be a bit of hope for the future.

Scotland have to play in their pink away strip against England tonight, which many have labelled as unlucky, but is there really such a thing as a cursed kit?

Some of the media are FURIOUS about this. LIVID.

Alan Hansen is the first Scottish player to make it into your England and Scotland combined XI, at centre-back as part of a dominating back four.

He is joined by in the heart of defence by former England captain Tony Adams, with Gary Neville and Ashley Cole in the full-back positions.

Interestingly, left-back Cole was the most popular player of all - selected in 69% of your teams. Is this down to a lack of alternatives on the left-side of defence?

Rio Ferdinand narrowly missed out on selection, receiving 1.5% less of the vote than Adams.

    Combined XI so far:

    Keeper: Shilton

Defence: G Neville, Adams, Hansen, Cole

    Murray expects 'exciting' England-Scotland match

Andy Murray won't be among the 13,000 Scotand fans at Wembley tonight, even though the new tennis number one is in London preparing for the ATP World Tour Finals. Brother Jamie, also playing at the 02 Arena, will be there though, along with dad, William.

"It should be a good atmosphere," said Andy Murray. "I'd imagine it will be a pretty exciting match. It would be a great effort if Scotland won... but I don't see it.

"I mean England at home, especially England at qualifiers tend to be very strong. They've not even conceded a goal yet and Scotland haven't been playing that well so far, but if they can get a win that maybe changes their fortunes around and maybe they can go on a run after that."

    England v Scotland (19:45 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas

There is a need for the Rooneys in the side. When you go into derbies you ask 'who are the experienced professionals that can manage us through the game?'

Those players give an understanding in the build-up, making the younger players understand the importance of this fixture.

They might look at Scotland as individuals but do not underestimate them.

That is hopefully what the captain and manager will bring to the table for England.

    England v Scotland (19:45 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley

This is not simply a crucial World Cup qualifier - it carries even wider significance for England's interim manager Gareth Southgate.

An England victory against Scotland will make it much easier for the Football Association to appoint him as Sam Allardyce's successor on a permanent basis - anything else and the waters are muddied and things may not be so straightforward.

First things first. England and Southgate need to get a result against "The Auld Enemy" in their first competitive meeting in 17 years.
