David Silva's improvement this season has not generally grabbed the attention at Manchester City given the rapid rise of others in Pep Guardiola's team.

Silva was a major disappointment last term but has been one of their most effective players under Guardiola.

Today, he has been given a much wider role on the left, almost so wide he hopes the full-back forgets he is there.

    Man City 0-0 Middlesbrough

City are knocking heavily on the door now. But Boro are like those miserable folk on Hallowe'en are refusing to open the door.

John Stones heads wide, David Silva's shot is blocked by former Spain team-mate Victor Valdes then Sergio Aguero skews wide.

    West Ham 0-0 Stoke City

A worrying moment for Stoke fans, as the increasingly fragile Ryan Shawcross spends some time on the ground. He gets back up as what looks like home fans make a move towards a line of stewards. One to keep an eye on.

That's in reference to a tweet that Anichebe "sent" recently.

Alan Pardew covers his mouth with his hands, a bit like that emoji which looks like it has just seen a ghost. You know which one we mean.

Why? Because Andros Townsend has  lashed a good chance wide.

Victor Anichebe is not a natural finisher but that was brilliant. At the other end Jordan Pickford has kept Sunderland in the game.

    Victor Anichebe (33 mins)

Where has that come from? Victor Anichebe fires Sunderland to a parity they barely deserve. The ball is slid through by Jermain Defoe, but Anichebe, with his back to goal, still has a lot to do. Still, the former Everton man is the size of a wardrobe and can spin his man before lofting high into the net. Do we need to cancel David Moyes' P45?

Karren Brady is having a good chinwag at London Stadium. Before the action improved, it may have been about this year's crop of Apprentice candidates, but the football has now warmed up. Lovely ball from Dimitri Payet, but Michail Antonio can't get on the end of it.

    Burnley 2-0 Crystal Palace

The odds will be pretty stacked against a Palace comeback at Turf Moor. Don't even waste a quid. Burnley totally in command, containing the visitors without busting a gut for a third.

Give Middlesbrough credit, they've defended very well. Manchester City are looking at how to get behind this team and they can't. Aitor Karanka will be delighted with his team.

    Man City 0-0 Middlesbrough

Direct is not a word that I'd imagine Pep Guardiola has in his vast vocabulary. Whether he's speaking Catalan, Spanish, English or German.

But City have started to go more for the jugular in the past few minutes. Kevin de Bruyne powers an angled drive past the far post, before Sergio Aguero stings Victor Valdes' gloves with a rising shot.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Stoke City

Lee Grant has been an excellent signing for Stoke City. Here he makes a fine reaction save to deny Angelo Ogbonna, who is leaping like Dick Fosbury to power a header from a corner. That's the closest we've come to a goal in London.

    Bournemouth 1-0 Sunderland

Jordan Pickford is perhaps the only player to emerge with any credit from Sunderland's season so far. Here he has to save from Joshua King, who is moved into space by good work from Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas. Pickford is off his line to block. At the minute, he's a one-man defence.

  14. Postpublished at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2016

    Man City 0-0 Middlesbrough

The numbers tell the story at the Etihad. City have hogged 75% possession, stringing together 167 passes. Boro have made 56. But the one stat that really counts has them level.

Makeshift centre-back Aleksandar Kolarov has enough of this tippy-tappy stuff, having a crack from 25 yards out to force Victor Valdes into a stop.

Gee Em: Surely Moyes is just thinking now what he needs to take from his office come evening.

Tom Shelton: Look at Leicester's run 2 years ago/last season. They've made the impossible possible. Sunderland can do it if they believe .

Scott: If it's the players that let Sunderland down, how will replacing the manager help? Who would be able to turn it round?

    Bournemouth 1-0 Sunderland

Sunderland are finally making some inroads, getting down the Bournemouth left. There's a scramble, with Duncan Watmore eventually able to wriggle into some room and fire a shot that Artur Boruc gathers into his belly.

    Dion Dublin

It is a keeping error for Steve Mandanda. It is what I would call chocolate wrists. Gudmundsson strikes it well enough but the keeper has got to save it.

    Chocolate wrists?! Anyone?

What's going through the minds of those travelling Palace fans?! I'd have gone downstairs for a cuppa. Or something stronger. Few signs of encouragement from their players since Burnley's second.

  19. Postpublished at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Stoke City

It's not been the highest-quality encounter at London Stadium, but what action there has been, Stoke have had the better of it. A Jon Walters cross was scrambled away and Joe Allen has shot over. For that reason, it's the Stoke fans who continue to make the noise.

    Man City 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough can barely get out of their own half at the moment. Adam Clayton (8) is their most advanced player on the halfway line.  Manchester City have pushed well up the field in pursuit of an early goal. Only two of their outfield players have spent the majority of the game inside their own half.

Can Middlesbrough keep them at bay?
